From her comeback at SummerSlam 2021 until her Raw Women’s Championship match with Bianca Belair at SummerSlam 2022, Becky Lynch had been portraying herself as a heel. The run marked a significant change from her tenure as “The Man” in the late 2010s, when she frequently wore outrageous clothing and engaged in cheating to either keep or attempt to reclaim the women’s championship she had grown fixated on on the Raw brand. After the bout, though, she switched back to a babyface and was ready to battle Bayley’s Damage Control team alongside Belair.
The change probably caught the attention of the audience soon after Triple H assumed the position of WWE’s Head of Creative. She claims that “The Game” believed that the heel run was going too far in resisting the demands of the audience.
Unexpected Heel turn
She had released a promo in which she discussed the reasons behind her behaviour over the previous year and how her bout with Belair finally helped her change. She was unfortunately attacked backstage by Damage Control on Raw and separated her shoulder during the match, therefore she hasn’t appeared on TV since. This week, she discussed a variety of topics with Ryan Satin on the Out of Character podcast, including her unexpected face turn.
“It was a Year of Me Being an A**hole”
During her bout at WWE SummerSlam against Bianca Belair, Becky Lynch dislocated her shoulder. Big Time Becks lost in SummerSlam, but he returned to Nashville’s Nissan Stadium as a crowd favourite.
Damage CTRL (Bayley, Iyo Sky, and Dakota Kai) debuted after Bianca Belair successfully defended her RAW Women’s Championship. They then surrounded Belair. Becky joined the champion and assumed The Man identity once more. In order to put Becky off television while she recovers from her injury, CTRL withdrew but then attacked her on the subsequent RAW. After pinning the RAW Women’s Champion in the 6-woman tag team match at Clash at the Castle on Saturday, Bayley appears to be next in line for a title challenge.
On her Rivalry With Bianca Belair
At SummerSlam, The EST accomplished more than just keeping the RAW Women’s Championship away from Becky Lynch. At SummerSlam 2021, she took 26 seconds to exact revenge on Becky for her defeat.
Becky appeared on Ryan Satin’s podcast Out of Character and expressed her happiness with the feud, noting that it started and finished with a handshake at SummerSlam. She continued by saying she had been an a**hole for the previous year but had since turned into The Man.
‘’I’m incredibly pleased with what we accomplished since I believe the story was beautifully concluded. At SummerSlam, it all started with a handshake and finished with a handshake. It was a year where I was a jerk and then turned around to be The Man. We don’t do long-term storytelling like that very frequently, and when we do, it usually happens by mistake, so I have a feeling it was. But we knew what we wanted to accomplish, particularly in that WrestleMania moment. Even if everything that followed wasn’t ideal, it all ended up being perfect. Consequently, I’m very proud of that year.’’
