Apple launches the new iPhone SE at the most affordable price

The official announcement of the new iPhone SE was made by Apple on Wednesday. After the rumours doing the rounds for months, it is finally official and it is not called as iPhone 9. This time Apple has come up with the most affordable iPhone ever priced at $399 for a 64GB model. With the same look like the iPhone 8, the new model will sport a 4.7-inch retina display. Apple has kept phone’s design consistent since the iPhone 6 making the iPhone SE essentially the fifth generation of the same look.

With a Touch ID sensor and wireless charging, iPhone SE will have only one camera on the front and back. At this price tag, the phone does not have Face ID and there is no fast charging in the box. However, iPhone SE comes with A13 Bionic chip which is available in the latest iPhone 11 and 11 pro models.

The new model is available for preorder from April 17 and should arrive by April 24. Besides this, it also has 128 GB and 256 GB variants which are priced at $449 and $549 respectively. Black, White and Product Red will be the three colour variants for the new model. Moreover, the phone supports the fast 18W charging of which the adapter can be purchased separately. The in-box charger supports 5W charging and the phone is also compatible with Qi wireless charging.

Apart from this, iPhone SE supports Wi-Fi 6, Gigabit LTE and has dual sims with the second slot being an eSIM. The 3D Touch is replaced with Haptic Touch for performing several quick actions. Looking at the specs, the phone looks a complete winner, but it would be too early to say anything right now. With a lighting port, there isn’t a headphone jack in the iPhone SE like other latest iPhones.

OnePlus, which is the competitor of Apple and Samsung launched the OnePlus 8 series in the premium category on Tuesday. It would be interesting to see which brand’s phone turns out to be the best in the market.
