Andrew Garfield Didn’t Meet Emma Stone For One Week To Prepare For Gwen Stacy’s Death

Gwen Stacy’s death by the end of The Amazing Spiderman 2 still haunts Peter Parker’s Spiderman. Andrew Garfield’s Spiderman hasn’t gotten over the heartbreaking death of her beloved love. As in Spiderman No Way Home we can see him grieving and missing the love of his life.

We also see Andrew relieved and in tears as he saves MJ in No Way Home. As she too falls from the heights and Green Goblin interrupts Tom Holland’s spiderman from saving her. That’s when Andrew’s Spiderman saves her life.

The No Way Home’s Zendaya’s Mj falling from heights was a cinematic parallel to Amazing Spiderman’s Gwen Stacy Death scene. When Spiderman No Way Home trailer was released fans were worried about MJ’s character dying in the film due to this parallel.

But behind the most emotional scene of The Amazing Spiderman 2, there was a lot of preparation from Andrew’s side to get the scene perfect. In a recent interview, the Amazing Spiderman 2 VFX supervisor revealed how Andrew Garfield prepared for Gwen Stacy’s death scene.

Jerome Chen revealed that Andrew didn’t see Emma Stone for a week before filming. This was because Andrew wanted to get the scene right and told Emma that when she arrives at the scene she has to pretend to be dead to him.

According to the VFX supervisor, everyone on the set was silent. The director of the film also likes to work with full focus. Further, he adds saying, ” And I just remember Andrew coming in and just crying uncontrollably. It was hours of that. That was grueling but powerful.”

Indeed Andrew Garfield’s acting during the scene was quite natural and made the audience emotional.
