Amber Heard Faced Organized Campaign of Harassment During Defamation Trial: Reports

The High profile defamation case of Johnny Depp VS Amber Heard had received the judgement during last month, on June 1. The judgement of the high profile case had gone into the favor of actor Johnny Depp. Now as per the reports it is seen that, the hate messages against Depp’s former wife on social media was an ‘organised campaign of widespread targeted harassment’ against the Aquaman actor.

The court had awarded $10.35 million in damages after the jury had declared that the Aquaman actress had defamed him on all the counts and following that a nearly seven-week trial in Virginia amid allegations of domestic violence and sexual assault. While on the other side Amber was also awarded $2 million in her countersuit as jurors found that Johnny Depp had defamed her through his attorney. 

While many people have believed that the bots have beenused to run an online hate campaign against the actress, Bot Sentinel founder Christopher Bouzy has said there could be an “organised campaign of widespread targeted harassment,” with actual people, not bots, behind the attacks.

He has also told that, “It does not necessarily mean a bunch of folks in a small room, some place in St. Petersburg that are working together. It could just be a group of people who are against Amber Heard, and they decide on another platform — whether it’s Switch or Discord or whatever — ‘we’re going to attack, let’s coordinate together.’”

He has also called it the worst cases of cyberbullying and cyberstalking by a group of Twitter accounts that we’ve ever seen”. While after the judgement, Heard’s sister wrote in the Instagram post of her that, “I know what I saw and because the truth is forever on your side. I’m so sorry that it wasn’t reflected in the decision made by this jury, but I will never give up on you, and neither will anyone who stands with you.”

While recently it was seen that the actress had demand for a new trial over the mistaken identity of one of the jurors, and it was rejected by a Virginia judge.
