Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma announce pregnancy, “And then, we were three!

Congratulations are in order for cricketer Virat Kohli and actress Anushka Sharma! The beloved couple took the internet by storm after they officially announced that they are expecting their first child together.

On Thursday, the pair took fans by surprise with their pregnancy announcement by sharing an adorable picture on their respective social media handles in which Anushka can be seen showing off her baby bump. “And then, we were three! Arriving Jan 2021 ❤️????,” they captioned their posts, sharing the news with millions of their followers. According to reports, Anushka is already four months pregnant and is expecting to deliver in January 2021.

Flaunting her baby bump, Anushka Sharma looked stunning in a black and white polka dot dress as she posed with her cricketer beau. Virat, on the other hand, was seen in a basic grey T-shirt paired with white track pants.

Congratulatory messages and well wishers

Moments after they shared the happy news, fans and followers flooded social media with congratulatory messages and wishes for the happy couple.

Several of Anushka’s colleagues from the film industry also congratulated her. From Alia Bhatt to Taapsee Pannu, Bollywood celebrities thronged the post with congratulatory notes. While Priyanka Chopra wrote ‘Congratulations u guys’ on Anushka’s post, Alia posted heart emojis. ‘Congratulations you two’, wrote Sania Mirza.

“I am so grateful that she is my life partner”

Anushka and Virat, who will be first time parents, have been married for three years, after having dated for several more. Virat and Anushka tied the knot on December 11, 2017. They jetted off to Tuscany for a family-and-friends-only wedding. Which they followed up with two wedding receptions back home, one in New Delhi and another in Mumbai.

On a recent episode of ‘Open nets with Mayank’, the captain spoke to host and Indian opener, Mayank Agarwal. Kohli was all praise for Anushka whom he believes changed him as a person, for good. The 31-year-old further claimed that he is very ”grateful and blessed” to have a partner like Anushka in his life.

“I give her full credit for making me see different sides of things altogether and I am so grateful that she is my life partner. Because you learn from each other. I was a very close person, I wasn’t a very practical person before,” Kohli said. “So when you see another person and know that your life partner has a different outlook on things. You invariably are challenged to see another point of view” said the Indian skipper during the candid chat with Mayank.

“So that was something that changed my mindset completely and changed me as a person completely.”

When Virat opened up about having kids

In another 2018 interview, Virat had also opened up about having and building his family. He had said that whenever he has kids, he wants to give them all his time. “I have a life, I have a family. I will have kids. They deserve all my time. That is something that is very, very clear, and close to my heart. I want no part of my career being flashed into my house. I want no part of my trophies, my achievements, nothing in my house when our kids are growing up,” Virat had said.

How the couple has been spending the lockdown together

Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent nationwide lockdown, Anushka and Virat have been spending quality time together and have also been posting about the same on social media. Fans have spotted the two playing cricket on the balcony of their plush Worli, Mumbai apartment, or even just laze around together. The couple also indulge each other with Instagram quizzes, where Virat seems to invariably beat her.

Virat and Anushka’s pregnancy announcement comes just after fellow celebrity couple, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan announced their second pregnancy a few weeks ago.

On the Work Front…

Kohli is currently in UAE, where he has travelled to participate in IPL 2020. The popular Indian captain is in quarantine, ahead of the Indian Premier League.

On the work front, Anushka was last seen on the big screen in Aanand L Rai’s Zero (2018) and has not yet signed her next project as an actor. However, she has had her hands full with her critically acclaimed production ventures. Including the recently released Amazon Prime Video series “Paatal Lok” and Netflix film “Bulbbul.”
