Rebel Wilson & Anna Kendrick Reunite The Barden Bellas To Cover Beyoncé’s “Love on Top,” In ‘Pitch Perfect’ Reunion for UNICEF
The aca-gods have blessed us with a Pitch Perfect reunion! The cast of Pitch Perfect reunited for a virtual sing-along. In which the all-girl acappella group belted out a powerful rendition of Beyonce’s upbeat hit, “Love On Top.” In order to raise donations for UNICEF’s COVID-19 relief.
Three years after the final film in the popular trilogy, Anna Kendrick, joined forces with the rest of the Bellas. Including Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Hailee Steinfeld, Alexis Knapp, Kelley Jakle, Shelley Regner, Hana Mae Lee and Chrissie Fit. Who got back together to raise funds in support of UNICEF’s efforts to help children in Beirut and across the world, battle the COVID-19 pandemic.
Even the Quarantine won’t stop the Barden Bellas
We cant think of anyone else better to introduce the surprise reunion other than Elizabeth Banks and John Michael Higgins themselves. The beloved actors reprised their roles as acappella competition hosts, Gail and John.
The video opens with John doing what he does best, hysterically ragging on the girl group. “I’m afraid I have some bad news, the Barden Bellas have gotten back together again,” Higgins says as John. “It seems not even a quarantine could prevent them from harassing us with another musical number.”
Banks, as Gail, added, “John, you have a cold, dead heart. But that’s right, the Bellas are back with a re-imagined classic to support UNICEF. Who are on the ground in 192 countries doing whatever it takes to protect kids from the coronavirus pandemic,” Gail says after some playful banter with John. “A portion of all proceeds from this song benefit UNICEF, so get in line and download it now,” she adds.
As the stars were all at home in their separate houses, amid the coronavirus pandemic, the reunion was captured virtually through a video call. Toward the end, Kendrick shared a sweet message as her costars continued singing. Anna was seen holding up a sign that read, “As the key gets higher and Kelley [Jakle] takes over the top notes, I just want to say I miss you guys so much!”
“Buckle up kids, the Bellas are back… for a good cause!”
Banks shared the video on her Instagram account writing in the caption, “Pitch Perfect Reunion. Buckle up kids, the Bellas are back… for a good cause! Families around the globe are suffering from the impact of the #COVID19 pandemic. Especially those in Lebanon who are facing crisis after crisis. But we can all pitch in and help. Money raised from the downloads of our rendition of “Love on Top” will go directly to @UNICEF. To help children in Lebanon and around the world who need our support right now. Head to the link in my bio to download the song and donate now. #Beirut #COVID19 #ForEveryChild,” she added.
Rebel, who appeared as Fat Amy on the popular franchise, as well as the other Bellas including, Brittany Snow (Chloe) took to their social media urging fans to show their love and support for a good cause. “We are here, again, making music with our mouths for two very important reasons. Beyoncé and a great cause,” Brittany Snow captioned the performance.
“There’s nothing perfect about the world we’re living in”
The YouTube video caption from Universal Pictures notes, “There’s nothing perfect about the world we’re living in. Families around the globe are suffering from the impact of the #COVID19 pandemic, especially those in Lebanon who are facing crisis after crisis. But we can all pitch in and help.”
Proceeds raised from the downloads and streams of “Love on Top” are, indeed, going to UNICEF. And are being earmarked to help children around the world and in Lebanon. Where they’re still recovering from a massive explosion in Beirut on August 4.
Pitch Perfect first hit theaters back in 2012. Fans all over the world were instantly obsessed with the Barden Bellas acappella team, who defied all haters with their musical talents. The film franchise went on to become a worldwide phenomenon with two successful sequels in 2015 and 2018. The Pitch Perfect trilogy is one of the most successful franchises in Hollywood, with the films grossing more than $560million worldwide.
