TV Personality Larry Emdur Announced As The New Host Of The Chase Show

TV actor Larry Emdur has been confirmed as a replacement for Andrew O’Keefe on Channel 7’s The Chase.

O’Keefe, who was recently arrested and charged with allegedly abusing his partner, was dumped by the network at the end of 2020.

‘I’ve Had A Love Affair With Quiz Shows’

“I’ve had a love affair with quiz shows for most of my working life, and the opportunity to host one of the TV world’s greatest formats is incredibly exciting,” Emdur told The Sunday Telegraph.

“The Chase is one of the most important shows on the network. Having spent a lot of time in this premium space — going into the news — I know that it’s a really great time of the day, just before dinner, when the family gets together.

“It’s a tumultuous time but shows move on and productions move on and over the years many hosts have been replaced with many other hosts.

“It’s happened very quickly. There’s no doubt about it, there’s lots of focus on it, but in keeping with what the network wants me to do, I have to aim for the blue sky and look forward.”

Larry Emdur’s Career

Emdur, who hosts The Morning Show, was reportedly close to not renewing his contract with Channel 7 late last year and was offered the opportunity to participate in Chase with the intention of keeping him on the network.

Emdur has a lot of experience in hosting game shows. He was in charge of The Price Is Right from 1993-1998 and 2003-2005. He also hosted W Wheel Of Fortune on Channel 7 in 2006.

“The production is in Sydney now (having moved from Melbourne), so it’s manageable and it’s an exciting new challenge in my career when I was probably thinking more about winding down,” he said.

TV Blackbox first reported earlier this month that Emdur may take over from O’Keefe.

Other nominees for the competition were Sunrise weather presenter Sam Mac, Daniel MacPherson and Grant Denyer.
