The message behind Billie Eilish’s new song “Your Power” is “Very Delicate.”

The song, which was released on Thursday, April 29 alongside a music video featuring a platinum blonde Billie sitting on a cliff with a snake gradually winding around her body, was among the Grammy-winning artist’s “favourite” to compose, according to Billie.

Billie started, “‘Your Power’ song and video out now.” “One of my favourite songs I’ve ever written is this one. Since I keep this one so close to my side, I feel very insecure putting it out. This is about a wide range of conditions that we’ve all seen or heard. I hope this serves as a spark for change. Make an effort not to misuse your position of authority.”

Billie’s New Album

In the new song’s lyrics, Billie switches between first and third person. “She said you were a hero / You played the part / But you ruined her in a year / Don’t act like it was hard,” she sings in one verse. “I thought I was special,” says the next line, “but you make me feel like it’s my fault and you’re the devil.”

Billie’s new single “Your Power” is taken from her upcoming album Happier Than Ever. Earlier this month, she posted the album’s release date on Instagram.

“ON JULY 30TH, MY NEW ALBUM ‘Happier Than Ever’ WILL BE Out!” she wrote with a photo of the cover art. “This is my favourite piece I’ve ever written, and I’m both nervous and excited for you to read it. I’m not sure what to say. I’ve never felt so passionate about a project as I do now. I hope you feel the same way I do. Also, a new album will be released on Thursday at 9 a.m. pacific time!!”

In a since-deleted Instagram Story message, she also announced the entire track list, which included titles like “I Didn’t Change My Number,” “Billie Bossa Nova,” “Getting Older,” and “GOLDWING.” It also includes her single “Therefore I Am,” which she released in November of last year.
