The release date for Atypical season 4 as well as first-look photographs for the show’s last season have been published by Netflix. Atypical is a Netflix dramedy that follows Sam Gardner (Keir Gilchrist), an intelligent teen, as he looks for freedom and romance amid the complex lives of his family and friends.
Season 3 of Atypical did particularly well with its raw portrayal of a family torn apart by infidelity and exploration of the struggles that people on the spectrum face in college, but it did leave viewers with a lot of unanswered questions about Sam’s future and how the family will continue to heal.
Netflix has confirmed that Atypical season 4 will premiere on July 9, as reported by Deadline, and has also released a flurry of first-look photographs for the season. Several recurring characters, including Sam’s friend Zahid (Nik Dodani), Casey’s girlfriend Izzie (Fivel Stewart), and Sam’s new pal Sid, make appearances in the images (Tal Anderson). Two of the photographs also appear to show what look to be moving boxes in the Gardner home, implying that the family may be relocating in season 4. Take a look at some of the photos below:
Season 4 appears to be carrying on from season 3 in a steady manner. Casey (Brigette Lundy-Paine) and Izzie reunite, Sam and Zahid rebuild their connection, and Sam draws, works at Techtropolis, and hangs out with his college friends. The sight of moving boxes isn’t surprising, given the family’s need for a new beginning.
If the boxes reflect either Sam or Casey moving out, it would be a little more interesting and in line with Sam’s developing college career and Casey’s ambitions of attending UCLA. What we do know is that all of the series’ beloved characters will return for Atypical’s fourth and final season, which promises to be emotional and full of surprises.
