Ryan & Catherine receive top honors at Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards
At the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards, Ryan Reynolds and Catherine O’Hara received top honours. Reynolds got the National Arts Centre Award this year, while O’Hara earned the Lifetime Achievement Award. Close friends and colleagues also paid tribute to the two talents.
Dan Levy, Eugene Levy, and Annie Murphy, as well as Andrea Martin, Dave Thomas, Martin Short, and Robin Duke, who co-starred with O’Hara on Schitt’s Creek, paid tribute to the actress. In an emotional tribute address to O’Hara, Dan Levy described her as “one of a kind.” “I was born and raised in this lovely nation to an Irish-Catholic Canadian family, and I was given the tremendous opportunity of working with the best Canadian co-stars,” O’Hara said as she accepted the prize. Dan Levy also took to Instagram to post some photos from the day when O’Hara was honoured.
Steven Page wrote an original song for Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds was apparently unable to maintain his composure because he comprehended the song’s words. The hook of the song read, “Canada loves you back.” “Wow, that was really stunning,” Reynolds remarked in his remarks. That brought tears to my eyes.” Reynolds was also honoured by Hugh Jackman, who paid tribute to him on Twitter.
They’ve always been good friends, and they love to play practical jokes on each other! Reynolds’ facial image was made out of 20,000 cans of food as part of the homage. “It’s been @RealHughJackman’s lifetime ambition to have a portrait fashioned out of 20,000 tuna cans. Thank you for destroying one dream in order to realise another,” Reynolds wrote later.
