Pregnant YouTube Star, Nicole Thea Dies at 24
Nicole Thea, a London dancer and Youtube influencer who had gained a following for her pregnancy videos, died on Saturday. She was 24 years old.
Thea’s family confirmed the heartbreaking news on Sunday in an Instagram post. They also shared that Thea’s unborn son, whom she and her boyfriend, Global Boga, hoped to name Reign, also died. At this time, it’s unclear what caused Nicole and her unborn son’s death.
“We are struggling to cope with what has happened”
Her family’s statement read, “To all of Nicole’s friends and supporters it is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Nicole and her son, that she and Boga named Reign, sadly passed away on Saturday morning. As a family we ask that you give us privacy because our hearts are truly broken and we are struggling to cope with what has happened,” they said.
Nicole had pre-scheduled YouTube videos to upload to her channel, and her boyfriend, Global Boga, had given her family, his blessing to allow the videos to be published.
Nicole Thea as a Youtuber
The street dancer turned influencer, who lived in London with her partner, was nearing her due date and had been sharing her pregnancy journey with her 123k Instagram followers and her YouTube channel.
Nicole’s partner, a fellow street dancer, Global Boga, posted a video of himself dancing with a pram early on Saturday. Boga, whose real name is Jeffery Frimpong, had shared in a post the week before that he believed his son was arriving ‘on a Monday’. Miss Thea had 73,300 followers on Youtube with videos about her life, pregnancy and boyfriend. Some of her recent videos included Boga and her brothers rating her maternity outfits and an Instagram video of what was in her hospital bag.
“I’m so out of breath 24/7″
In one of Nicole’s recent videos, the influencer mentioned that she had been having ‘a good pregnancy.’ She was all praise for her partner Boga, who had stayed ‘so calm’ throughout her morning sickness. Nicole did however add, “The worst thing about my pregnancy is I’m so out of breath 24/7. I could walk from here to the end of the room and I feel like I’m dying. I went to my midwife and I was like oh my god is this normal? She told me, ‘yeah you’re carrying a child’’.”
Her most recent video was posted on Sunday and it featured the late YouTube star getting ready to do a milk bath. The 14-minute video was titled, ‘GOT IN A BATH FULL OF MILK! *BTS PREGNANCY SHOOT.’ It showcased precious moments from Thea’s maternity photo shoot.
The Pregnancy Announcement
Nicole Thea had announced her pregnancy on April 19 with a sweet video on Instagram of herself showing off her baby bump while dancing beside Boga.
“GOD gave us the biggest blessing yet,” she wrote. “I’m finally creating a beautiful little human inside of me. Can’t believe this bubba will be half of me and half of the loml. Honestly, @global_boga has been the best support EVER and GOD made no mistakes making him the father. We are already obsessed with you, our little miracle baby,” Thea added. “Thank you for choosing us to be your parents and best friends ????.”
Gender Reveal
One week later, the YouTube star revealed the gender of her baby on the way. “We are having a bouncing baby boy family,” Thea wrote, adding that her beau “got what he wished for and we actually can’t wait to meet him ????????????.”
