Nicole Young Justifies $2 million monthly spousal support, claims estranged husband Dr. Dre was Violent

It seems like the divorce battle between Dr. Dre and his estranged wife, Nicole Young, is heating up.

How it all started

To give some context, Dre and Young called it quits in June earlier this year after 24 long years of marriage. In her June 29 petition, Nicole cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split and proceeded to ask for spousal support. Along with the division of their multi-million-dollar properties. Dr. Dre, who has amassed a $800 million fortune, responded to her initial petition and agreed to pay spousal support. However, the rapper added that the division of assets should be governed by the couple’s prenuptial agreement, which was not mentioned in Young’s petition in the first place.

Here’s when things started heating up. Young responded to Dr Dre by claiming that the couple did in fact have a Prenup, which she signed under pressure in 1996, when the two tied the knot. However, Nicole insisted that the rapper tore up the agreement years later as a sign of his deep love for her. Therefore stating that the prenup is no longer valid.

Dre, on the other hand, vehemently denied the incident and informed the court that his estranged wife signed the document, which still remains in effect.

Nicole, a lawyer herself, asked the judge presiding over their case to bifurcate the issues surrounding the couple’s prenuptial agreement. Which in other words hinted that they should put the issue of a prenup behind them and proceed with the divorce.

Dre clearly doesn’t want that. This is because, if the court decides to see it Young’s way, she may get half of Dre’s $800M fortune. Which includes everything from music royalties to real estate.

$2 Million for Spousal Support and $5 Million in legal fees

This now brings us to the events that took place just a day before, on September 4, when Nicole filed for new court documents seeking a whopping $2 million a month in temporary spousal support. Not only that, Young is also asking for an additional $5 million in legal fees, for her legal representative, high-powered celeb attorney, Samantha Spector.

This comes after the music mogul moved out from the couple’s Malibu residence, to go live in a Brentwood, California home. Nicole meanwhile still resides in their Malibu house, with access to all their cars, personal chefs and other luxuries. Additionally, Dr Dre claims that Young refuses to give him back his motorcycle, golf clubs and firearms from the Malibu home. Even though he has allowed Young into the Brentwood residence when she went to get her items.

On the basis of these observations, Dre had argued that his ex does not need anywhere close to $2 million a month in spousal support. Especially since, her quality of life has not changed since filing for divorce in July.

A breakdown of Nicole’s $2 million Monthly Spousal Support

Now that we are all caught up, in the latest turn of events, Young is now justifying why she needs the proposed $2 million a month in spousal support. And that’s not all. Young also has some big claims against her former husband.

Nicole gave a breakdown of the staggering $2 million-per-month spousal support that she requested for, which goes as follows.

$10,000 for laundry, $135,000 for clothes, an astonishing $900,000 for entertainment, $125,000 for charitable contributions. $100,000 to cover the mortgage, and $20,000 on a cell phone and other forms of technological communication. Young included $60,000 monthly for education costs, including tuition and living expenses. However, she didn’t mention if that was for her own education efforts or if it was to pay for either their son Truice, 23, or daughter Truly Young, 19.

Although all her individual expenses weren’t listed, her total monthly expenses came out to $2,530,000.

Controlling finances, Verbal Abuse, Threats and more…

It is important to note that as of now, Dre is reportedly covering all of her expenses, which includes their Malibu house she’s currently occupying with security, chefs and more. In her filings, Young has also mentioned that the former NWA member isn’t letting her spend their money, is controlling her finances and has prevented her from using her American Express Black Card.

She alleges that Dre has been verbally abusive toward her. The lawyer cited a late-night incident back in April 1, that took place at their Los Angeles home. Young claims this was when things really turned sour. According to her, Dre was intoxicated in their Los Angeles home and began shouting, ‘F*** you. Get the f***out. Go to Malibu.’

The lawyer also claims that at one point he ordered, “Do not spend one more cent … period. You can’t be mean and disrespectful and spend my hard-earned money. F*** that!!! Yes that’s a threat … I’m putting the beach house up for sale next week …” Dre is allegedly so angry at the accounting of his finances, due to the divorce proceedings that he’s threatening ‘war.’

Young even described a terrifying incident when she became truly frightened of her husband. Recalling the incident she revealed that Dre had sent his brother-in-law to the Malibu home where she was staying to pick up his Glock handgun. Nicole refused to give it up at the time saying that Dre had a “history of violence and coercive control, both before and during the marriage.” Young recalled text messages that Dre sent to her after their divorce, which she also found threatening. In one, he said, “Why are you ignoring me? Why are you ignoring me … should I come see you?” She admitted that the texts were “frightening” and had instilled fear in her.
