Marvel’s Website & Social Media Ignores Venom On Let There Be Carnage’s Release Day

Venom: Let There Be Carnage has finally been released but looking at Marvel’s social media page, there is no mention of it whatsoever. The first Venom movie was a surprise hit in the theatres as it garnered $856.1 million worldwide. Sony made sure to expand its own cinematic universe through it.

The second movie, Venom: Let There Be Carnage is a part of Sony’s Spider-Man universe and includes Marvel characters Venom, Shriek and Carnage. Venom is the most popular character in Marvel as he is almost on every comic book, t-shirts, and merchandise. Marvel has even given more prominence to the character and in order to expand Venom and Carnage’s mythology, they have created new characters.

It seemed like Marvel was building up the anticipation for Venom: Let There Be Carnage and was going to support the character. But the studio has not made any reference to its release. Even on the Marvel website, there is no mention of the release of Venom 2. They have all the MCU movies and Fox movies that were acquired by them in Disney’s acquisition. However, there was no mention of the non-MCU Sony film.

Even Marvel Entertainment Twitter has no reference to the release of Venom 2 but is reminding fans to get tickets for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Before Marvel Studios, Marvel used to put a lot of emphasis on all of their movies. They had also put focus on non-MCU properties like X-Men: Origins Wolverine. But once Disney purchased the studio; there has been more effort to put focus on characters the company had film rights to.

The X-Men comics saw them taking a backseat to the Inhumans; while Marvel was putting them to the MCU replacement for the team. The cast of Fantastic 4 was also killed off in the Punisher comic. Now that Disney and Marvel have acquired the rights for both franchises; X-Men and Fantastic 4 have had a massive return in the comics too.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is made by Sony and Marvel Entertainment. But being a subsidiary of Disney, they are only putting more emphasis on their films first; with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings still in theatres and Eternals only a month away. The studios will definitely be working closely for the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home as both of them have their money on it.
