Kobe Bryant’s Wife Vanessa Bryant Settles Dispute With Helicopter Company Which Caused Husband’s Death

Vanessa Bryant and others accompanying her in the complaint came to an agreement with the Island Express Helicopters, after the fatal accident in January of 2020 which killed Kobe along with his daughter and other 7 people.

The 41-year-old basketball player and his 13-year-old daughter were killed in a helicopter crash last January. The total death toll of the accident was nine people. The fatal crash took place in Calabasas.

According to NBC Los Angeles, the terms and conditions of the agreement are sill confidential and yet to be completed in the court of law.

The Background

Vanessa Bryant had filed a wrongful-death complain in Los Angeles Superior Court the past February after her husband and daughter passed away in January 2020.

In the lawsuit she said that the Island Express helicopters was involved in high risk of transport and the pilot on duty, George Zobayan, who had also died at the scene, “failed to properly monitor and assess the weather prior to takeoff,”

The suit also sought compensation for “loss of love”, among other damages. It has been reported that three other daughters of Vanessa and Kobe, Natalia, who is 18, Bianka, 4, and Capri, 2, were also cited as plaintiffs for this.

Legal Remedy

A couple of months after Venessa filed the lawsuit, the pilot’s brother responded to the lawsuit and stated that the passengers were to blame for the accident.

In court documents as per various media outlets, one of them being HollywoodLife, in May of 2020, Berge conceded that the passengers knew the “risks involved.”

The document clearly mentions that “any injuries or damages to plaintiffs and/or their decedent were directly caused in full or in part by the negligence or fault of plaintiffs and/or their decedent, including their knowing and voluntary encounter with the risks involved, and that this negligence was a substantial factor in causing their purported damages, for which this answering defendant bears no responsibility.”

‘Best Daddy In The World’

The settlement has been reached just after Venessa recently paid tribute to Kobe on their family’s first father’s day without him.

On June 20 she shared a photo of her late husband with the caption “Happy Father’s Day to the BEST DADDY in the world,” Vanessa wrote. “We miss you so much. We love you forever and always.”
