Kate Winslet Admits That She Felt Objectified When Shooting Sex Scenes

Kate Winslet has opened up about few racy scenes that she has been a part of which is in abundance. She rose to fame since Heavenly Creatures which is nearly 30 years ago.

The actress has admitted now that she had felt objectified when filming certain sex scenes during her successful career. She sat down for an interview with Radio Times and revealed that her latest scenes in Ammonite have made her realize that she was being objectified in previous films.

Kate further talked about her latest film as she said they were not objectified in any way in her latest venture. She said, “We weren’t objectified in any way. But that also made me realize that I’ve felt a little objectified in the past.” In the latest movie, Kate plays a woman who starts a secret relationship with another woman and enacts several sex scenes throughout.

The Titanic actress further revealed that they realized that by removing dialogue, they could explore the “desire and depth of connection between these two women”. She talked about learning a lot and feeling equal and safe. The actress said, “I learned a lot. It felt very equal and very safe; we weren’t objectified in any way.”

Kate further shared, “But that also made me realize that I’ve felt a little objectified in the past without knowing it. It brought up a lot of interesting thoughts.”

“I have never been asked the same volume of questions about love scenes of a heterosexual nature”

The actress has never been afraid of baring all on screen. She has won a lot of her awards due to her detailed performances. The star has also won an Oscar back in 2008 for her performance in The Reader. She had played the role of an ex-Nazi prison guard who seduces a teenage boy.

Kate had also acted out her iconic scene alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the 1997 Titanic movie. Her character used to say, “”I want you to draw me like one of your French girls,'” as she posed nude across the sofa. The actress also admitted to having far more questions from her latest sex scenes than she had for her previous roles.

She said: “I’m telling you, with my hand on my heart, I have never been asked the same volume of questions about love scenes of a heterosexual nature – of which I have shot many in my life. And so that to me, that to me, that’s a conversation.”
