Kangana Ranaut Sparks Controversy With Alia Bhatt Over New ‘Kanyadaan’ Ad

Kangana Ranaut has been infamous for her controversial feuds with Bollywood actors and directors. The last nepotism statements made by Kangana Ranaut on the famous television talk “Koffee with Karan” took Bollywood like a wave.

The actress is once again openly picking a fight with actress Alia Bhatt. Kangana objects to Alia Bhatt’s ad and claims that the ad is taking advantage of naïve consumers and using minority politics to its advantage.

‘Kanyadaan Ad’

The ad is directed by Abhishek Varman, who also directed Alia in the films 2 States and Kalank.The ad about the practice of ‘kanyadaan’ featured Alia Bhatt in the lead.

In the ad, Alia sits at a wedding mandap with the groom, she tells the viewers how she is loved immensely by her family but is always reminded of the fact that one day she needs to leave for her husband’s house.

She further quotes, “Am I a thing to be donated? Why only kanyadaan”.  The ad aims at taking a modern take on the ritual of kanyadaan and emphasizes Kanyamaan which translates to Respect for the women.

The actress took to her Instagram handle to express her disapproval of the ad and the depiction.

What Did Kangana Say?

“Humble request to all brands ….. don’t use religion, minority, majority politics to sell things …. Stop manipulating naive consumer with shrewd divisive concepts and advertising… #mohey @aliaabhatt @moheyfashion @stylebyami.” Kangana captioned her post.

Kangana used her Instagram story to state the following message, “We often see a Martyr’s father on television when they lose a son on the border they roar saying “don’t worry I have one more son, uska bhi daan main iss dharti Maa ko dunga… Kanyadaan ho ya putradaan (I will give him away for the protection of Mother Earth. Be it giving away one’s daughter or son).

“The king who renounced everything he ever loved only to live the life of a Tapasvi (monk). Please stop mocking Hindus and their rituals. Dharti (Earth) and women both are mothers in scriptures they are worshipped as goddesses of fertility. Nothing wrong in seeing them as the precious and very source of existence (shakti),” she further wrote.

Kangana Ranaut has always been seen openly lambasting Alia. She previously took a jibe on Alia Bhatt calling her a part of the nepo-gang and also criticized her award-winning performance in Gully Boy calling mediocre in addition to calling Alia, Karan Johar’s puppet.
