Indiana Jones 5’s release date has been pushed back 11 months
The release date for Indiana Jones 5 has been pushed out until 2023. Following Disney’s takeover of Lucasfilm in 2012, they lost no time in launching a complete slate of new Star Wars projects, including feature films and television shows.
The growth of Lucasfilm’s second well-known franchise, Indiana Jones, has been slow. Indiana Jones 5 was officially revealed in 2016 but has had a lot of difficulties since then, including different writers and even a director change.
Release Date Delayed 11 Months
Things appeared to have finally settled on the Indiana Jones 5 front, with the film’s main cast announced and filming beginning earlier this year. Director James Mangold said over the summer that he was still filming scenes despite star Harrison Ford suffering a shoulder injury on site. It’s unclear how much longer Indiana Jones 5 will take to finish, but the actors and crew have been given more time to do so.
Indiana Jones 5 has been postponed until June 30, 2023, according to Disney. It was part of one of the many changes to the studio’s upcoming film slate, which included the postponement of six Marvel pictures and the removal of untitled films from the calendar.
Notes on a variety of topics The broad adjustments at Disney are “related to production” rather than box office forecasts. The tentpole Indiana Jones 5 is still in the middle of the main filming. It’s unclear whether Ford’s injury has anything to do with it.
While Mangold was able to continue filming, if Ford had been forced to miss a significant amount of time while recovering, Mangold would have been limited in what he could capture. The good news is that Ford is back on production for Indiana Jones 5, as demonstrated by the latest set photos, which hint at a time-travel plot. Hopefully, the film will be completed in the not-too-distant future, barring any unique challenges.
