Hilary Duff Has Some Very Good News About The “Lizzie McGuire” Reboot
Hilary Duff, aka, Lizzie McGuire has some good news in store for her fans. The Younger actress recently revealed in an interview that the Lizzie McGuire reboot is still in the works.
When Production Was Halted
Last we knew, show runner Terri Minsky had abruptly left the project after filming just two episodes.
According to reports the move took place after rumored creative differences and hence the production was halted. At this point, the future of the Lizzie McGuire reboot seemed very much up in the air. But the writers and Minsky, had a Zoom reunion, giving fans hope that the show was still happening after all. Hilary had also requested the show be moved to Hulu where “the realities of her character’s journey in her 30s wouldn’t live under the ceiling of a PG rating.”
“I have high hopes that we are going to make it work”
Since then, there has been radio silence on the project. But Hilary Duff has just given disheartened fans new hopes by announcing three months later, that the reboot might have officially gotten the green signal. The actress revealed that there are still conversations about the show “a couple of times a week, which is really nice.”
“We started shooting, and then obviously that got on hold for a couple of different reasons not involving the pandemic,” she said. “But you know what, I have high hopes that we are going to make it work.”
Looking Optimistic
She went on to say that she’s “optimistic” the project will happen. “I feel like it’s our responsibility to honor the fanbase that grew up with her and where they are now. We kind of put her on pause, and had to go back to the drawing board.”
Excitingly for fans, “a lot of writing is happening,” she shared. “We are being told to have patience, which is good, so I feel optimistic.”
When asked what cans can do to help keep the ball rolling, Duff says they should keep speaking out. “I think they can continue to be vocal about wanting to see the show,” she says, hoping for an “outpouring of love and excitement” for Lizzie’s return.
“I want it to happen more than anyone”
In another recent Interview, Duff revealed that during the pandemic, the show has been discussing how to move forward with the series.
“Disney has certain things that have to be met for their brand, and I totally understand that, and they totally understand my needs,” she explained. “So we’re in a really good place of being like, ‘Hey, we pressed pause, and we’re regrouping.’ There’s been a lot of like creative meetings, obviously virtually. I think we’re on the right path, and I want it to happen more than anyone and they obviously feel the same way.”
The actress has also revealed that Disney is “really excited” about the project and are still “dedicated to making it work.”
What Can You Expect From The Lizzie McGuire Reboot?
For the much anticipated Reboot, Hilary Duff would be going back to her Disney roots. Lizzie is now in her 30’s and working as an assistant to an interior decorator in New York. She is also dating a guy who owns a fancy pizzeria. Although she’s still the Lizzie we know and love, she’ll be facing challenges of being a grown-up.
