Eternals, a Marvel Studios film, is set to premiere on Disney+ in January 2022. Chloé Zhao’s film was originally scheduled to hit theatres in November 2020; as the second feature in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The COVID-19 outbreak led Marvel to alter its plans, and Eternals was repeatedly postponed until it was ultimately released in theatres in November 2021.
It detailed the narrative of a group of ten Eternals; who spent 7,000 years on Earth looking over humans; before intervening to prevent the planet from being destroyed by a Celestial. When Eternals was first released, it had a mixed reception. Despite positive reviews from critics, it became the first MCU film to be rated badly on Rotten Tomatoes.
Eternals’ polarising nature has fueled discussions about the picture; but it hasn’t stopped it from doing well at the box office. It has grossed over $368 million globally and is expected to overtake Black Widow in the near future. Even though Chloé Zhao’s film will not be released in China, there’s a potential that the film’s theatrical performance may surpass Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Despite the fact that most fans across the world have seen Eternals, many have been waiting to learn when it would be available to watch on Disney+. Eternals will premiere on Disney+ on January 12, 2022; according to a tip from Streaming Guider.
According to the site, Disney confirmed the release date to them, although neither Disney nor Marvel Studios have made an official announcement. If the timing is correct, Eternals will be available on Disney+ 70 days following its theatrical release. The introduction of Eternals on Disney+ comes after many fans speculated about whether the film would ever be available on the streaming service.
Eternals 2 and any Disney+ show spinoffs have yet to be confirmed by Marvel Studios
Throughout the pandemic, Kevin Feige remained confident that the film would be released in theatres as planned. Chloé Zhao created different sequences for the larger IMAX ratio; which featured an IMAX distribution option. Since Disney+ recently added an IMAX Enhanced viewing option for thirteen Marvel Cinematic Universe films; including Avengers: Endgame, it’s probable that Eternals may be accessible to stream in that format as well.
In early 2022, as more people have the opportunity to view or rewatch Eternals; it will be intriguing to see if the film’s performance on Disney+ plays a role in determining whether or not it will get a sequel. Eternals 2 and any Disney+ show spinoffs have yet to be confirmed by Marvel Studios. Some have suggested that a sequel isn’t essential, despite the fact that Eternals ends on a cliffhanger.
Chloé Zhao has expressed interest in returning to make another picture; so she and Marvel may wish to revisit the franchise in an attempt to address some of the criticisms it has gotten thus far.
