On Monday, May 3, it was announced that the WandaVision star would star in a new HBO Max series as Candy Montgomery, a Texas woman accused of murdering her friend with an axe in 1980. Isn’t that the sort of thing you’d like to chop into?
Love and Death, a new series from TV writer and producer David E. Kelley, is inspired by John Bloom and Jim Atkinson’s book Evidence of Love: A True Story of Passion and Death in the Suburbs, as well as their Texas Monthly series. Director Lesli Linka Glatter, Nicole Kidman, Per Saari, Scott Brown, Megan Creydt, Matthew Tinker, Michael Klick, and Helen Verno are among the executive producers on Love and Death. Love and Death is “a compelling tale about the frustrations and wishes of two women in a small town that takes place in a horrific act of violence,” according to Sarah Aubrey, HBO Max’s head of original content.
An AXE Murderer
That is undoubtedly real, as a new TV series based on this chilling case is in the works. In July, it was revealed that Elisabeth Moss had signed on to play an axe murderer in Candy, a Universal Content Productions limited series currently in progress.
Of course, this isn’t the first time that the same murderer has been played by different actors. In two different films, both Jeremy Renner and Ross Lynch have played cannibalistic murderer Jeffrey Dahmer.
Ross Lynch as Jeffrey Dahmer
Another Dahmer on the loose! Ross Lynch played serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer’s high school years in Marc Meyers’ 2017 film My Friend Dahmer.
Jeremy Renner as Jeffrey Dahmer
Jeremy Renner portrayed serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in the 2002 film Dahmer, who is notorious for murdering and dismembering nearly 20 men and boys between 1978 and 1991.
Darren Criss as Andrew Cunanan
Darren Criss left his Glee persona behind to play serial killer Andrew Cunanan in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. Criss won an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a SAG Award for her performance.
Cameron Britton as Ed Kemper
Mindhunter has done it once again! On Netflix’s Mindhunter, Cameron Britton played Ed Kemper, a terrifying character.
Evan Peters as Charles Manson
The Manson family murders is replayed in American Horror Story: Cult. AHS’s Evan Peters directed famous cult leader Charles Manson for the scene.
Damon Herriman as Charles Manson
