Dynasty Star Liz Gillies Marries Michael Corcoran After Postponing Wedding Due to COVID-19

Singer and Dynasty alum Elizabeth “Liz” Gillies is a married woman! On August 8, The 27 year old actress tied the knot with record producer and music composer, Michael Corcoran in an intimate wedding ceremony on a farm in New Jersey.

The former “Victorious” actress took to Instagram on Sept 16 to share the joyous news in a series of gorgeous photos captured during their outdoor ceremony. In one photo, Gillies is seen adorning a one-of-a-kind satin gown by Britt Wood Designs, while Corcoran’s decked in a classic suit. The couple are photographed standing before Gillies’ father, who was the officiant, with an arch made of blush and pink roses behind the altar. Her caption simply reads: “8•8•20 ????”

“There were more important things to focus on.Our wedding could wait”

In a recent interview with Vogue, Gillies spoke about the couple’s initial plans to get married on April 25, the date of their French bulldog Otis’ birthday. However, their plan fell through due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Once we saw how dire the situation was, we knew we had to postpone (the wedding),” she said. “It was a no-brainer for us. Aside from the obvious travel and crowd restrictions, it didn’t feel right to be celebrating in such a big way when there was so much going on in the world. It would have been in poor taste to burden people by asking them to risk their lives to come to our wedding. There were more important things to focus on. Our wedding could wait,” confessed the actress.

“The virus really put things into perspective,” Gillies explained. “A big, extravagant experience in the middle of a pandemic didn’t make any sense.”

“The whole thing was a bit insane, but Michael did a great job”

So, instead of saying their vows at the St.Regis, the couple ended up tying the knot almost four months later at the Inn at Fernbrook Farms in New Jersey. With an intimate gathering of just 10 guests, including both of her grandmothers. It was well worth the wait, as the bride gushed, “It looked so picturesque.”

The couple interestingly turned the wedding into a road trip, as they decided to drive from their home in Atlanta in Class A RV to avoid risking flying during the pandemic.

“We’d never driven one before,” said Gillies, of the RV. “So the whole thing was a bit insane, but Michael did a great job,” Liz noted. “We got tested before we left and quarantined with my family for two weeks before the wedding,” she told the publication. “With everything going on, it felt so nice to be in my childhood home with nothing to do but relax leading up to the big day. We cooked and took the dogs for long walks and really just enjoyed each other’s company. It felt good to slow down. Overall, we were very fortunate to be able to safely spend this time with family. It was incredibly special,” the new bride gushed.

“Once we were exchanging vows, it hit me that my dad was marrying us and our loved ones were there”

Gillies’ family was very much involved in the ceremony as well. Apart from her father, walking her down the aisle and officiating the couple’s wedding, they got their dog, Bubba to serve as the ring bearer. The actress’s brother also gave a beautiful reading at the ceremony, which she said meant a lot to her.

“It has been such a long road for us, and at times [it] felt like a total impossibility that it was hard to believe we’d actually gotten to that moment where it was really happening,” Gillies admitted. Recalling one such moment, the actress explained, “Once we were exchanging vows, it hit me that my dad was marrying us and our loved ones were there. And I think I turned to Michael and mouthed, ‘Oh, my God, we actually did it.’ We were so happy.”

“At the end of the day, it’s about you and the person you love”

The Victorious actress maintained that postponing her wedding during the pandemic was the right decision, saying, “I’m very happy with the way ours turned out. I don’t think I would’ve had it any other way,” she said. “At the end of the day, it’s about you and the person you love. The rest doesn’t matter.”

Gillies and Corcoran then enjoyed a pink-and-green themed reception, after the ceremony, where the couple sat at a large farm table and danced to music performed by brothers Pat and Sean Kelly. Eventually a pajama night complete with s’mores followed suit.

The couple recently moved to Atlanta after six years of dating, and Michael popped the question to Liz at their new home. Recalling the special moment, she revealed, “When we got there, he started leading me down to the backyard… I had no idea what he was doing. All of a sudden he got down on one knee and proposed to me right there. I was totally surprised. It was a perfect proposal.”
