Carlos Valdes & Tom Cavanagh Are Exiting The Flash After 7 Seasons
The Flash is set to lose two of its original members. EW has confirmed the news that Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh are both quitting The Flash as series regular. They were part of the show for seven seasons.
Carlos played the role of Cisco Ramon throughout the show’s entire run. He is set to make his last appearance as a series regular in the season 7 finale. On the other hand, Tom has played various versions of Dr. Harrison Wells as well as Eobard Thawne/ Reverse-Flash for seven seasons.
He has already ended his time with the show as a series regular with the third episode of this season. The actor has continued on as a recurring guest star. When it comes to Tom’s midseason contract, it is reported that he originally wanted to end his run as a series regular when season 6 concluded. However, because of the coronavirus pandemic, the plans of the season got pushed back.
The actor had teased his departure from the show on his social media handle. He expressed his joy in being able to create and play the “myriad Wells”. Tom wrote, “It has been a joy creating and playing the myriad Wells that makeup ‘Wells st’ on #theFlash.” He continued describing his character as “brusque, sunny, capricious, and perpetually shameless” at times. The actor further added that they will be linked by a single unbreakable thread of gratitude.
He concluded as he thanked everyone on all sides of the screen who make up this show. The Flash showrunner, Eric Wallace shared how Tom and Carlos have been an important part of the show for seven seasons. He expressed his gratitude to the incredible talents who created beloved characters.
Eric said, “Both are incredible talents who created beloved characters that fans and audiences around the world have come to love. Which is why we are happily keeping the door open for return appearances.” The series has already been renewed for season 8 and is about to begin production on the 150th episode this week.
