Bindi Irwin Is Expecting First Child With Husband Chandler Powell; “Baby Wildlife Warrior Due 2021”

Congratulations are in order for Bindi Irwin, who is expecting her first child with husband, Chandler Powell.

The 22-year-old conservationist and daughter of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin shared the joyous news on Instagram today. Telling fans she wanted to keep them involved throughout the journey.

“Baby Wildlife Warrior due 2021,” she captioned a photo of her and Powell holding a tiny Australia Zoo uniform. “Chandler and I are proud to announce that we’re expecting! It’s an honour to share this special moment in our lives with you. Though I’m still in my first trimester, we really want you to be part of our journey from the beginning of this new life chapter. We couldn’t wait to share the news as this beautiful little being has become the most important part of our lives. Your support means the world to us. Please let me know your best advice and send good vibes & prayers to our little sweetheart. Love & light. ❤️.”

Gushing over his wife, Chandler commented on Irwin’s post writing, “You’re going to be the best mother. ❤️.” Irwin replied back, “We’re going to be parents!! Still crying tears of happiness. I love you so much.”

“Becoming a dad is the highlight of my life”

Dad-to-be Chandler also took to Instagram, sharing his own announcement. “We’re going to be parents!! We have a baby Wildlife Warrior on the way coming in 2021,” he captioned the same photo. “Becoming a dad is the highlight of my life. I cannot wait to embark on this new adventure and life chapter with my gorgeous wife, @bindisueirwin. Bee, you’re going to be the most amazing mother.”

“I wish Steve was here to share this beautiful moment”

Terri Irwin, soon to be a grandmother for the first time, was clearly over the moon about her daughter’s pregnancy. “This is the best day ever! I am over the moon to announce that @BindiIrwin and @chandlerpowell9 are going to have a baby! Words cannot express the love that is filling my heart. While I wish that Steve was here to share this beautiful moment, I know that he would be so proud,” she said on Twitter.

“Here’s to a lifetime of adventure together”

Bindi’s pregnancy announcement comes a week after she celebrated the one year anniversary of her engagement to Chandler. In an Instagram post, the conservationist gushed over her ‘incredible’ other half as she told him that she ‘loved him with all her heart’.

“’Just over a year ago @chandlerpowell proposed. Now I get to call this incredible man my husband. Here’s to a lifetime of adventure together. My sunshine, I love you with all my heart,” she wrote in the caption.

American athlete, Powell met Irwin in November 2013 when he visited the Australia Zoo, and the pair kept in touch after he returned to the States. However, the distance couldn’t keep them apart and two years later, they went public with their relationship.

“I immediately fell head over heels for her kind and thoughtful heart”

It was on Bindi’s 21st birthday in July 2019 that Chandler proposed. After he presented his childhood sweetheart with a diamond ring, they both took to Instagram to share the happy news.

“She said YES! Almost 6 years ago we met at Australia Zoo,” he announced on Instagram not long after proposing. “I immediately fell head over heels for her kind and thoughtful heart that radiates so much light. Proposing in her very favorite place in the zoo, surrounded by animals, seemed like the perfect way to embark on this incredible new chapter in our lives. Bee, I love you more than anything in this world and I always will. Happy Birthday.”

Addressing her 3.3 million Instagram followers, Bindi too gushed over the ‘most beautiful surprise’ and revealed that she had no idea that the proposal was going to take place. Or that her brother, Robert Irwin, was across the park taking photos.

“Our first few months of marriage have been a whirlwind to say the least”

Five months ago, Bindi and Chandler tied the knot in a small private ceremony at Australia Zoo. The gathering was limited with only a handful of guests in attendance as friends and family were unable to join them due to coronavirus restrictions.

“We held a small ceremony and I married my best friend,” Bindi shared on social media at the time. “There are no words to describe the amount of love and light in my heart right now.” She shared how excited she was about the next step in their relationship saying, “It is amazing to have gotten married. We are so grateful to take on this new era as a married couple, but it has been a really funny time,” Bindi said in an interview in May. “We have spent our honeymoon here at Australia Zoo caring for 1,200 animals. It’s been really fun.”

The pair were forced to cancel their honeymoon to help with Australia Zoo’s $400,000 weekly payroll crisis. “We spent our honeymoon doing our best to care for our animals and zoo team hoping that things would get brighter,” Bindi revealed. “Our first few months of marriage have been a whirlwind to say the least. But It feels so much better to tackle the world together as husband and wife”

“This is probably the busiest honeymoon in history, along with the weirdest honeymoon ever,” Chandler added.
