Bad Bunny makes Playboy history in new cover

On Tuesday, Bad Bunny became Playboy’s first-ever digital cover star with two covers. In all of Playboy’s 66 years, Bunny has also become the only man, besides the late Hugh Hefner, to appear solo on the cover. Bad Bunny’s larger-than-life persona, hit making music and electrifying fashion has made for one memorable feature.

“Bad Bunny is Not Playing God”

The cover featuring the Puerto-Rican trap artist, is shot by celebrity photographer, Stillz, in Miami, Florida. It shows Bunny dressed as a Greek God with his nails on fleek and bedazzled with the iconic Playboy bunny logo. The images accompanying the feature article “Bad Bunny is Not Playing God,” also showcases the artist’s vivacious style. He is pictured modeling everything from a gold Versace toga, a crown of laurels and chains and elaborate nail art.

His lips in one close-up shot are even garnished with tiny Playboy bunnies.

Born Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, Bad Bunny is known for pushing boundaries. Whether it’s his music or his eccentric fashion choices. He is usually seen decked in colorful suits and short-shorts. Bunny strives to offer alternative expressions of masculinity and Latin identity through his music and fashion.

Speaking to Playboy, the 26-year-old star got candid and refreshingly honest. He spoke about his ever-evolving career, his passion for music and life as a queer ally in the world of reggaeton and Latin hip-hop. “I do all of this and I’m not even sure what I cause,” he admitted. “It’s not until someone comes up to me and tells me, ‘Man, thank you,’ that I realize the impact.”

Bad Bunny on Love

Bad Bunny is an ally to all. The singer talks about the importance of loving whoever you want to love, and making sure he stands up for others who don’t have a voice. “I think that sex is a giant world, and everyone is free to see it as they want. Do it with whoever they want, however they want, with infinite possibilities. In the end, we are human beings. Everybody feels, everybody falls in love with whoever they’re meant to,” he expressed.

Inclusivity in Music videos

Bad Bunny is known for challenging the status quo by questioning the toxic masculinity that’s often ingrained in the Latin culture. With his inclusive music videos, he is known for denouncing homophobia on his social media platforms and standing up for the marginalized. His music video for “Ignorantes” with Sech features LGBTQ relationships. While his “Yo Perreo Sola” sees him dressing in drag.

“There’s nothing worse than feeling like you don’t belong”

He also shares on the success of his second album “Yo Hago Lo Que Me Da La Gana”“I Do Whatever I Want”. It shot to No.2 on the US Billboard chart, and became the highest-charting all-Spanish language album of all time, with tracks that tackle sexism head-on.

Bad Bunny wants to make sure everyone feels included and can enjoy reggaeton and his music.

“There’s nothing worse than being somewhere and feeling like you don’t belong. I’ve been trying to make sure everybody feels part of the culture of reggaeton,” he notes. “I want to make sure they feel that they have someone there, that friend that can stand up for them.”

On Women and Mental Health

Bunny has also been vocal about his support for women. “The music industry and society in general [treat women] like they’re nothing. Women are human beings and deserve respect and the same treatment as anybody else,” he adds.

In an Interview earlier this year, Bad Bunny also opened up about the importance of talking about mental health and breaking stereotypes. “I think, as a reggaeton singer, I have a fan base that I think needs that message or that type of education.”
