Aaron Taylor-Johnson To Play Kraven The Hunter In Sony’s Spin-Off for Spider-Man Villain

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been cast as Kraven The Hunter. The actor has been revealed to have landed the role of the Spider-Man villain.

This will be a spin-off from Sony akin to Venom. As per reports, Aaron was offered the role after footage of him in his new movie, Bullet Train reached the director. J.C. Chandor was pretty impressed with his work and roped him in for the venture.

According to Deadline, Aaron’s scenes with Brad Pitt were so good that the filmmaker immediately got on the phone with him. He then discussed with him about playing the Russian villain. Kraven first appeared in Marvel comics in The Amazing Spider-Man in 1964. The character was one of Spider-Man’s ominous foes and also the founding member of the Sinister Six.

This is not the first time Aaron will be a part of a superhero movie. He was a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe before as he played Pietro Maximoff, the late brother of Wanda aka Scarlet Witch. Meanwhile, the character of Kraven has nearly appeared multiple times as the villain in existing movie series. However, it has never made the cut.

The current Spider-Man movie series features Tom Holland as the friendly neighbourhood superhero. It was rumoured that the upcoming instalment, Spider-Man: No Way Home will include Kraven, however, the idea was scrapped. Previously, Kraven was set to appear in The Amazing Spider-Man 3 but the film series never made it past a second movie.

He was also due to appear in The Sinister Six – another film that never came to fruition. When it comes to the comic series, the character has been a strong fixture in the Spider-Man comic books. The character’s aim has long been to kill Spider-Man to prove himself as the world’s greatest hunter.

However, Kraven maintains a code of honour and justice, treating his adversaries as equals. Even after being such an important character, he has never appeared in a movie, but the upcoming venture is the role he deserves. Whether writers are hoping Spider-Man actor Tom, 24, will appear, is yet to be determined.
