Evan Peters is seen playing Quicksilver in WandaVision. However, the events of the latest episode confirm that his appearance as Pietro Maximoff makes Fox’s X-Men part of the MCU, is put to rest.

WandaVision has successfully given us back-to-back surprises about the entire scenario that is going on in the MCU. The biggest surprise was at the end of episode 5 as Wanda greets Evan Peters as Quicksilver. Darcy Lewis asks the question we all had in our minds as she was watching it back at S.W.O.R.D.’s camp. She asks if Wanda recast Pietro since it was played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The entry of Evan as Quicksilver raised even more questions which made fans wonder if X-Men were now going to be a part of Wanda’s world. The possibility of a cross over with the mutants was off-limits when Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were first introduced in the MCU movies.

However, Disney’s acquisition of Fox meant that they can be a part of the same world. Since the multiverse theory is coming more into focus during Phase 4, Evan’s appearance in WandaVision could have been the first step towards introducing X-Men into the MCU.

There is a little more light that is shed on Pietro in the latest episode of WandaVision. It seems like Wanda was the actual reason that he was brought into her altered reality. The episode also shows that Wanda does not seem aware of the same. Evan’s Quicksilver also talks about his Age of Ultron death.

Pietro Might Be From The MCU Universe

He says, “I got shot like a chump on the street for no reason at all, and the next thing I know, I heard you calling me.” Evan Peters Pietro’s recollection of the events might come as a shock to the Avengers, but it might make things clear that this is supposed to be the same Quicksilver.

The character is supposed to be the same who has always existed in the MCU, however with some changes it can be explained that the change of character was in order to help avoid Wanda’s trauma. This is also explained in the latest episode as to why Pietro looks like Evan Peters and not Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

This can also mean that the Fox X-Men movies are not part of the MCU just yet. Even with the wider multiverse, the introduction of mutants might take place in the future. This, however, does make sense as the idea of this Quicksilver being the same one who died fits better.

The storyline fits better with how the Disney show is exploring Wanda’s most heartbreaking losses and painful experiences. Just like we witnessed Vision’s corpse in the fourth episode of WandaVision, Quicksilver also appears in his bullet-ridden body in the sixth episode.

This further draws a parallel between how and why Wanda brought them back. And the theory of neither of them truly being alive is still standing. Marvel also made the point very clear as they showed a part of Aaron’s Quicksilver’s death scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron. They showed it as a “previously on” recap at the beginning of the episode.

Introducing the X-Men in the MCU is likely going to be a factor in Marvel’s Phase 4. WandaVision is clearly exploring Scarlet Witch’s grief and increasing instability which is why she brought Pietro back. He might have a different face and might be from another universe but he is still her brother. However, the setting up of X-Men can still be done by Wandavision as they move forward.

Maybe a cameo from Magneto from the Fox movies or more new castings could connect both the universe. Marvel will make sure to do their unique thing when it comes to mutants.
