Miley Cyrus Announces Seventh Album ‘Plastic Hearts’
This year is getting better by the day as Miley Cyrus has announced that she will release her seventh studio album, Plastic Hearts on November 27. The singer took her Instagram to make the announcement.
Her new album will include 12 tracks which will also include her latest hit, Midnight Sky. The album will also include her live covers of Heart Of Glass (Blondie) and Zombie (The Cranberries). The singer also released her album cover which is a black and pink art for Plastic Hearts.
The image of Miley on the cover was captured by rock photographer Mick Rock. Miley will be releasing her new first full-length album after more than three years. She had released She Is Coming last year which is the first of a trio of slated EPs.
However, the singer scrapped the second and third installments after announcing her divorce from Liam Hemsworth. The actor filed for divorce back in August last year and settled their divorce by last December. This came just one year after they tied the knot.
Miley wrote a heartfelt letter informing fans how the wildfire had destroyed her Malibu home. She wrote how she had begun this album two years ago and thought she had it all figured out.
The singer wrote,” I began this album over 2 years ago. Thought I had it all figured out. Not just the record — its songs/sounds but my whole f—ing life. No one checks an ego like life itself. Just when I thought the body of work was finished… it was ALL erased. Including most of the music’s relevance. Because EVERYTHING had changed. Nature did what I now see as a favor and destroyed what I couldn’t let go of for myself. I lost my house in a fire but found myself in its ashes.”
Miley Is Working On A Metallica Album
Miley continued in her post sharing that her collaborators luckily had most of her music that was burned up in journals. She added it never felt right to release her story with a huge part missing. The Midnight Sky singer wrote, “If it were a chapter in my book I guess I would call it ‘The Beginning’ which usually when something is over we call it ‘The End.’ But it was far from that.”
The singer concluded the letter saying that is the plan and she had one of those before. However, she writes on a serious note that her music is coming and she thinks her fans will love it.
Miley has moved on to a new type of music and it can be called her new era as well. She released a 90s-influenced breakup anthem called ‘Slide Away’ after her divorce with Liam. The Hannah Montana alum recently released her new song, ‘Midnight Sky‘ which is towards a modern, disco-lite side.
Miley opened up about her new music in an interview, where she revealed she would be focusing on Metallica covers. She revealed that she is using her time away for creating something new. The Malibu singer said, “We’ve been working on a Metallica cover album and I’m here working on that. We’re so lucky to be able to continue to work on our art during all of this.”
She revealed initially it felt uninspiring to her but now she feels “ignited”. However, this comes as no surprise since she covered 1993 hit The Cranberries’, Zombie. The singer had performed the number for the Save Our Stages fest.
Miley also opened up about her role models in punk music. She said, “People ask me who I’ve studied for my movement on stage, and I always say Iggy Pop.”
Miley Cyrus’s Plastic Hearts is out Nov. 27 and available for pre-order now.
