Drea De Matteo was born on January 19, 1972, in New York City. She comes from Italian ancestry and grew up in a Roman Catholic household.
Drea Matteo was exposed to the world of entertainment and showbiz early on because her mother, Donna was a performing arts teacher. To be more precise, De Matteo’s mother was a playwright and playwriting teacher. She was a faculty member at HB Studio.
Drea De Matteo’s father was Albert. He was the CEO of Avery Boardman and Carlyle group, a furniture manufacturing company.
De Matteo attended the Loyola School and then completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Drea specialized in film production and wanted to be a director. She has also taken acting classes at the HB Studio.
Career
Her first role came in a crime drama show called The Sopranos. After this initial had started, De Matteo went on to play roles in movies such as Swordfish, Deuces Wild, The Perfect You, and many more.
It was the year 2005 when Drea De Matteo appeared in the remake of the 1976 action film Assault on Precinct 13 by John Carpenter. Her role in the movie was widely appreciated across Hollywood. Similar appreciation was showered upon her by the critics when she starred in Abel Ferrara’s RXmas movie.
Her acting career had caught momentum after some brilliant performances. She started getting more offers. From 2004-06, Drea starred in the famous Friends spin-off TV Series titled Joey. She portrayed the role of Joey Tribbiani’s sister on the show. However, the show was short-lived and did not come back after season II.

She also won the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Emmy Award in 2004 when she played the character Adriana in season 5 of The Sopranos. For this role, she was also nominated at the Golden Globe Awards.

In 2008, De Matteo portrayed the character of Wendy Case in the series named Sons of Anarchy on FX TV Network. While her role was not a regular appearance until the sixth season, the final two seasons of Sons of Anarchy saw Drea De Matteo being a regular appearance.
One of the best performances of Drea De Matteo came in the ABC show titled Desperate Housewives Season 6. However, the actress had to quit the show in 2010 following some personal undisclosed reasons. She also played Detective Tess Nazario in NBC’s Shades of Blue.
Love Life
Drea had somewhat of an entrepreneurial spirit in her. She launched a clothing store venture by the name of Filth Mart in 1997. She started the East Village apparel store in partnership with her then-boyfriend Michael Sportes. The business closed down in 2004, ad so did Drea De Matto’s relationship with Michael.
She was romantically associated with the singer and songwriter Shooter Jennings in 2001. Shooter Jenings proposed to Drea live at the Stanley Theater show in New York. Drea said YES!
The two have one daughter and a son together. The daughter is named Alabama Gypsyrose Jennings and the son is Waylon Albert Jennings. Drea De Matto and Shooter Jennings did not marry and were separated later on.
Drea was engaged with bass performer Michael Devin in 2015. To date, their relationship continues to stay intact.
