It’s possible that Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will fight as a tag team in the future. YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI’s fledgling organization, Misfits Boxing, has found great success. But it’s not because they’ve signed any marquee names or world-class athletes. Instead, it has been a result of their inventiveness as well as their focus on creators.
For instance, this month the promotion hosted its first-ever tag team boxing match. Fans had conflicting reactions to the pair ofDave and Luis Alcaraz Pineda’s knockout victory over Ice Posideon and Anthony Vargas. Yet it appears that Misfits Boxing is going all-in on tag team boxing. Floyd Mayweather and KSI are in discussions to fight Manny Pacquiao and Salt Papi.
As most fans know, the two legendary fighters squared off in 2015, with “Money” winning by unanimous decision. Fans naturally became enthusiastic, as is typical when major news like this is announced. They should, however, slightly pump the breaks. Several people commented shortly after the news surfaced to say that the fight is not yet official and may not occur at all.
KSI’s career
The matchup does, however, seem to be on the horizon. The fight has been planned for some time, according to Mams Taylor, the manager of KSI. A tag team match involving Floyd Mayweather won’t take place next, according to KSI. Since January, “The Nightmare” has remained inactive. The Englishman was supposed to fight Dillon Danis, but as “El Jefe” withdrew, Faze Temper stepped in at the last minute.
In a first-round knockout worthy of a highlight video, the Brazilian ultimately lost. The YouTuber-turned-boxer and Joe Fournier squared off after the battle. The battle with the businessman would be by far the hardest of KSI’s career thus far, and it wouldn’t even be close. Although Tyron Woodley has also been associated with that date, the two are now aiming for a fight in May.
In spite of this, KSI felt the need to address the tag team match rumours. The Nightmare declared that upon his reappearance in May, he will face just one foe. He didn’t say who that opponent would be, though. Although the Brit’s remarks may have disappointed some fans, this doesn’t imply the tag team match won’t go ahead. That simply indicates that it won’t be the next.
