Valkyrae Reveals She Is Depressed And Seeing A Therapist After RFLCT Controversy
The internet can be a brutal place, and more so if you are an influencer or social media personality. Recently, YouTube streaming Qeen Valkyare had a taste of how brutal the internet trolls can end up being when her skincare brand RFLCT was launched.
RFLCT was launched by Valkyrae as a brand that would protect gamers and streamers from harmful computer blue-light. However, the product was not well-received by the online world. It was dubbed as a product based on ‘pseudo-science’. Some even labelled it as a snake-oil scam.
Trolls And Criticism
Valkyrae’s intentions and ulterior motives behind launching the RFLCT brand were questioned and the streamer was trolled brutally on the internet. While some streamers like Sykunno offered support, others continued to pull her down.
Valkyrate did a ‘tell-all’ stream (which she now regrets) with fellow streamer Mizkif and it did not sit well with Pokimane who called out Mizkif for his intentions behind doing a stream with Valkyrae.
Now, after the RFLCT brand has been effectively terminated and the dream project of Valkyrae has been shattered, the streamer revealed that all the drama had an adverse impact on her mental health.
She told that the ‘mental damage’ and trauma was too much to handle and she is seeing a therapist for recovery.
‘I Have Depression’
“[After the RFLCT controversy], I became very depressed. I have depression,” the star continued. “I’ve really been having a bad time… I do think I have mental damage from all of this, for sure. I got very lucky in that there wasn’t a lawsuit [for the break] or anything, but I’m still in a terrible mental place.
“I know it’s only been two weeks and it will get better… but it was a big mistake, and it’s really left me in a terrible place. I have to give myself time.”
“I was incredibly naive [to get involved with RFLCT], and it’s been a big learning lesson. I’m going to be more careful with everything moving on now, that’s for sure. I’m naive, impulsive, and too trusting. Toast told me the last one.”
