Twitch Streamer Asmongold Responds To YouTube Removing The Dislike Button

Asmongold is one of the world’s most loved and well-known streamers. He exclusively streams on Twitch but after YouTube announced its decision to remove the age-old dislike feature from their platform, he had two cents about the whole situation.

According to YouTube, this move will prevent harassments and dislike attacks by viewers. At times, due to external factors, many viewers rush to dislike the video even if the video was good. This is known as dislike attack, or dislike bomb, which YouTube is trying to avoid.

‘Protects Predators And Abusers’

However, the Internet seems divided whether this update is really needed or not. Twitch streamer xQc feels that removing such an important feature ‘does not make any sense’. Here is what Asmongold has to say about YouTube’s decision to remove the dislike feature:

“YouTube removing dislikes not only censors dissent from corporate propaganda and brand agendas. It also protects predators and abusers from accountability to their audience, making new victims easier to find.”

“Removing Likes AND Dislikes from a video is removing feedback entirely,” he noted. “Removing ONLY Dislikes allows you to craft a positive and potentially misleading narrative regardless of the audience’s reaction.”

xQc Also Commented On YouTube’s Decision

Another streamer xQc also commented about the ongoing controversy and said that YouTube’s decision of removing the dislike feature was a ‘moronic mistake’.

“If you stand for dogsh*t values, you’re an asshat, you say bullsh*t in your videos, why should you [get likes]?”

“If your views are dumb, and you’re a dumbass, the dislike counts tell people you’re a dumbass. Equally, all good things get likes and everyone can see that you approve,” he said.

“I don’t want to be over the top, but it’s wrong. YouTube has got this wrong. Surely they see that. Changing [a key feature] like this doesn’t make sense.”
