The Background
Sonya Hussyn appeared on Yasir Hussain’s The After Moon Show in 2018.
During the quick rapid fire segment on the show, Yasir asked Sonya if she were to be the character of Mahira Khan which film she would not have signed? Yasir Hussain gave Sonya three options: Verna, Raees and Ho Mann Jahan.
Sonya replied that she would not make Raees as she had no interest in playing a sidekick character to Shah Rukh Khan.
What Did Sharmeen Obaid Say?
Two time Oscar-winning director Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy recently responded to Sonya Hussyn for criticism against Mahira Khan just for the reason that she signed a Bollywood movie Raees against Shah Rukh Khan.
Sharmeen left a comment under a post of digital media news publication saying, “Don’t think you’ll ever be Mahira Khan so you won’t ever get to say no,” She further added, “Don’t dis other women in the industry reflects poorly on you and your upbringing.”
Mahira won acclaim for her performance in her Bollywood debut, Raees which entered the 100 Crore club and catapulted Mahira to superstardom.
