Sia reveals she is a grandmother at 44
Congratulations are in order for Sia! The singer recently became a grandmother to two beautiful babies. In a new interview with Apple Music’s, Zane Lowe that aired this Tuesday, the Chandelier singer revealed that one of her sons recently welcomed his own children.
“My youngest son just had two babies, I’m a f–king grandma!” Sia said. “I’m just immediately horrified. No, I’m cool. They call me Nana.”

I’m trying to get them to call me ‘Lovey’
Though she’s now a grandmother, Sia doesn’t want to be called that. Instead, she’s taking a page from Kris Jenner’s playbook. “I’m trying to get them to call me ‘Lovey,'” she said, referring to the name the reality star has her grandchildren call her.
In May, Sia told SiriusXM’s “The Morning Mash Up” that she adopted two 18-year-old boys in 2019. “They were aging out of the foster care system, and I love them.” The pop star went on to say that her sons both experienced “conditioning and complex trauma” in foster care. “I’m a little bit jaded now after investigating the foster system as much as I have done in the last year. It’s failing us. Not in my experience, in my sons’ experience. They’ve been in 18 different locations in their 18 years.”

Sia explained that at first, things were a “massive roller coaster” at home. With her sons telling her one thing, while she discovered another, and trying to keep them out of trouble with the law. “I’d say, ‘I’m doing this because I’m your mother. I love you, I don’t want to see you in prison. With your history and the color of your skin, I don’t want to see you as that 5% that ends up in prison for life. I don’t want that for you.'”
“I’m just trying to do my best for them.”
The Grammy award winning singer later got emotional while talking about her sons. She revealed that her sons had played a massive part in teaching her an important lesson about race and privilege. “I’m embarrassed that it took me to adopt two Black sons to really understand what they go through on a daily basis,” she admitted. She shared that she’s “very scared” for her kids. “When this reality is happening, and it’s what we should be addressing more than anything else. We can actually act, and we can actually try and get justice for Breonna Taylor, and Elijah McClain. We can have an effect.”
Though her son’s babies have brought joy during these troubling times, her boys and the progress they’ve made have also added happiness to her life. “One recently came out, and he’s just blossoming and is the light of my life. I love him so much,” she told Lowe. “I’m just trying to do my best for them.”
“I have reached my professional and my personal goals, and I’m at a very interesting place,” said the singer. “I think being able to be a compassionate and nonjudgmental mother to my two sons, and to have the resources to really help them, I’ve now reached my personal goals.”
