Selena Gomez Talks With Kamala Harris About Mental Health & Why She Chose to Vote

Democratic presidential candidate, Joe Biden’s running mate, Kamala Harris how grateful she is for Selena Gomez. Kamala talked to the singer recently as she asked her why she chose to vote this time.

Harris took to Twitter to share the video with Selena and her conversation. She captioned it writing, “Your health isn’t just what you experience from the neck down — it’s also from the neck up. I’m grateful @SelenaGomez has been using her voice to raise awareness about mental health and inspire her fans to vote in this election.”

The singer revealed that she has experienced a lot in the last four years that had led her to believe why casting her vote matters. She said, “I just feel that my vote counts more than ever. As a citizen, as someone who truly, truly cares about their country, not voting is just not an option.”

Kamala appreciated Selena for making her voice heard especially about her struggle with lupus which she shared is something that her sister also suffers from. She talked about the many women of color who have lupus and are still struggling to get the attention and treatment they deserve.

Kamala said, “That’s one of the things that Joe and I are fighting for, which is to hold onto the Affordable Care Act and expand it.” The women also discussed mental healthcare. Selena added how she has shared her mental health journey. She said, “I just read too much I think about how deep this country is being affected mentally.”

Selena Sparks Concern Over Health

The singer said how she just knows how important it is even for her. Harris replied, “We still have a lot of work to do, and it’s something I care deeply about, and I look forward to working with you on it.” The Rare Beauty founder also joked about how her fans might be tired of her constantly talking about voting. Kamala, however, urged her to continue to speak about it constantly.

On the other hand, Selena Gomez’s fans are worried about the singer as they spotted her with a tube in an Instagram Live with Timothee Chalamet. Her fans sent her an abundance of love after noticing the tube.

Selenators, as they call themselves, started sharing screengrabs of the singer as they pointed out the tube of medical equipment in her hand. However, fans were more worried than curious as they already know Selena suffers from lupus.

“Praying for Selena’s health and I really hope she’s doing well,” one fan began their message on Twitter. “I can’t imagine what it is like to live with such a terrible autoimmune disease. sending you so much love and hugs [Selena Gomez],” they wrote.

Some fans were shedding light on why the singer has a tube on her hand. They assumed or rather knew that the Look at Her Now singer has been struggling with her health because of lupus. She had revealed earlier that she wanted to vote in person but could not for certain reasons.

Fans figured out the reason and were filled with worry and sent her love on her social media handle. Selena has yet to comment on the concern and confirm what it was. The singer has been open about her health struggle especially her struggle with lupus.

Selena Proudly Shows Her Scar

She was diagnosed back in 2015, however, Selena only revealed that in 2017. The singer told her fans as she went through a much-needed kidney transplant with her friend, and donor, Francia Raisa. Selena has also been open about her mental health as she has talked about her anxiety and bipolar disorder.

However, her fans deem as extremely courageous for using her platform to bring into focus her number of health struggles. The singer had recently shown off her scar from her kidney transplant on her Instagram. She wrote how difficult it was for her to show her scar from her kidney transplant.

The Rare Beauty founder wrote, “I didn’t want it to be in photos, so I wore things that would cover it up. Now, more than ever, I feel confident in who I am and what I went through….and I’m proud of that.”

However, her fans can take a breath of relief as she was spotted a few days ago as she came out of a Nobu restaurant. She has been encouraging her fans to vote time and again as she herself was a first-time voter and cast her vote early on.
