Sarah Silverman Apologizes To Paris Hilton For Joking About Her Jail Time

Sarah Silverman apologized to Paris Hilton for a joke that the DJ revealed still affects her nearly 14 years later. Silverman had mocked Paris while she was set to turn herself into jail for 45 days. This was due to a probation violation stemming from her 2006 suspected DUI arrest.

The personality had talked about Sarah’s joke on Monday’s episode of her podcast This Is Paris. She expressed how disgusting, cruel and mean it was of Sarah Silverman. The businesswoman shared how shocked she was because she had met her a few years before.

She said, “I was so shocked and surprised because I’d actually met her a few years before when I was at an event, and she couldn’t be nicer. So sweet. I knew I was about to check myself into jail in a couple hours [so I was] trying to be brave. To sit in the audience with her just literally publicly humiliating me, being so mean, so cruel [about my prison time], I was sitting there wanting to die.”

The socialite further revealed that she was trying to hold back tears as her eyes were welling up. She said she wanted to run out of the entire room but was trying to be strong and sit there. The businesswoman added that the whole audience was laughing and Sarah would not stop. She described it as being “so painful”.

Paris had her older sister, Nicky Hilton as a guest on the episode, who slammed Sarah for her “disgusting, vile, perverted statements.” She further added that it wouldn’t happen today.

“…I remember seeing that look on her face and my heart sank”

However, Sarah took to her own podcast to address this on Thursday as she responded to Paris. She admitted that in today’s “awakened” world she would never have made the joke. The stand-up comedian described the joke as “perpetuating real ugly s–”.

Sarah shared her own point of view from that time as she said that the crowd was laughing and she was thrilled at her success of her monologue. However, the writer talked about spotting Paris in the audience and remembers seeing the look on her face.

She said, “The crowd went bananas, and while I was thrilled at the success of my monologue, I remember spotting her in the audience, I really do and I remember seeing that look on her face and my heart sank. There was a person under there.”

The actress further added that she wrote an apology letter to Paris days later but never heard back. She shared as she addressed Paris’s podcast and said it bummed her out when Paris said she never heard from her. The comedian revealed that she does not know how that happened but she apologized that her note never reached her.

Sarah said, “On her podcast the other day, she said she never heard from me, which just bums me out, because I guess it never got to her. I don’t know how that happened. I’m just real sorry my note didn’t get to her because I really meant it”.

However, the actress apologized to Paris again and hoped that Paris feels her remorse. She said she felt it the second she saw her face that night and it feels terrible. The comedian shared, “It feels terrible to know that you have hurt someone, and it’s important to make it right so I hope this does that.”
