RIP Sebastian Stan is trending on Twitter, causing false death rumours

When fans got onto Twitter and saw #RipSebastianStan trending, they were alarmed, as the hashtag had inspired false claims of the actor’s death. Sebastian Stan is a Romanian-American actor who is most known for portraying Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Stan and Anthony Mackie recently earned headlines for their outstanding performances in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Stan, on the other hand, didn’t have much time to celebrate the series’ premiere because he was immediately cast in Pam & Tommy.

Stan, like many celebrities, has a sizable fan base. His muscular looks and irreverent humour, as well as his bromance with Mackie, are the perfect fuel for his followers, who have made him a Twitter trending topic on many occasions. Stan recently became a Twitter trending topic after promoting the film Monday by posting his butt on social media.

Fans discussed the famous scene of Bucky’s arm being disassembled by Ayo in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, as well. However, though Stan’s fanbase has been mainly kind up to this point, things have taken an unexpected turn.

False Rumors

While some of the Tweets are amusing, many who believed the actor had died did not find them amusing. The cause of the increase also raises some important issues. While some made an unusual connection to an I, Tonya joke, others alleged that Stan had ‘loved’ specific tweets or made racist or homophobic statements in a Zoom conference.

Some commenters referred to him as “ugly” and pushed for a new MCU star to admire, assuming that Stan had done something to cause him to fall out of favour. However, there does not appear to be any concrete proof of Stan’s misbehaviour, which may explain why so many people are puzzled by the trend.

False information spreads like wildfire in today’s digital age, with few people pausing to consider the implications of their rumours. Several users used the recent death of Chadwick Boseman, the Black Panther actor, to demonstrate how harmful it is to make jokes about someone’s death in the wake of very genuine and sad losses. Stan’s death was rumoured in an apparent attempt to cancel the actor, and many people used the hashtag to convey hateful thoughts and thoughts towards Stan for no apparent cause.
