Danielle Riley Keough was born to musicians Lisa Marie Presley and Danny Keough in Santa Monica, California. She was born on May 29, 1989, at the Providence Saint John’s Health Center. She also has two half-siblings, Finley and Harper. The two come from Riley’s mom’s fourth marriage with Michael Lockwood. Riley claims that her father’s ancestry is Irish while her maternal grandmother is of Scots-Irish descent.

Riley Keough witnessed a tough childhood in terms of travelling back and forth between her mother and father’s house. She spent the majority of her time in Hawaii and Los Angeles with her father but also visited her mother at times in Memphis, Tennessee.

Her mother Lisa Marie Persley married four times with all marriages either not working out or ending up in a divorce. The actress went to a public school in San Fernando Valley but did not complete her formal education there.

Modeling Career

Riley Keough was fascinated by entertainment, fashion, and showbiz from an early age. When she was just 15 years of age, Riley took part in various fashion shows and modelling contests. For instance, in 2004, Riley performed for Dolce & Gabbana in their ready-to-wear autumn fashion show.

After her initial experience as a model, she landed a big project. Riley was featured on the US Vogue cover in 2004. If that was not enough, she later went on to appear on the front page of Korean Vogue and the Japanese Elle magazine. She also appeared in French luxury fashion house Christian Dior’s summer collection show in 2005.

Riley enhanced her exposure and experience as a model when she featured on the cover of reputed French magazines named Jalouse and L’Officiel.

She was signed as the Summer 2013 ambassador by the Australian fashion brand Bonds.

Acting Debut

Riley Keough kicked off her acting career with a 2010 American biographical drama titled The Runaways. She played the role of Marie Currie in her debut movie. The movie fetched great reviews from the audience.

She was later seen in a pivotal role in the 2011 thriller movie The Good Doctor starring Orlando Bloom and Taraji P. Henson. Apart from these projects, she was seen in films like Magic Mike, Kiss of the Damned, and Yellow. Riley was also featured in Justin Timberlake’s album titled TKO.

Riley Keough’s Breakthrough Role As An Actress

She portrayed the role of a law-student-turned-escort in the series. This project fetched Riley a Golden Globe Awards nomination for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. Gracie Awards honoured Riley Keough with the Best Actress in a Leading role award.

The genesis of her mission happened with a drama film named American Honey alongside Andrea Arnold. The drama film was the winner of the Jury Price in 2016 at the Cannes Film Festival.

American Honey was a precious project for Riley since she was nominated for Best Supporting Female Actress at Sundance Film Awards for her role in the drama film. In the Village Voice Film Poll, Riley ranked 9th for the Best Supporting Actress.

Riley Keough Launches Her Production Company

With all the success she was garnering, Riley wanted to get out of her comfort zone and do bigger and better things. She decided to launch her own production house named Felix Culpa in partnership with producer Gina Gamme. Some of the projects that are expected by Riley’s production company are Sweet Lamb of Heaven: A Novel, the graphic novel Heartthrob, and The Curse of Beauty: The Scandalous & Tragic Life of Audrey Munson, America’s First Supermodel.

More recently, she was seen in the Netflix movie titled The Devil All The Time that was based on Donald Roy’s 2011 novel. The film was released on Netflix in the second half of 2020. In January 2020, Keough’s upcoming film, the comedy-drama Zola premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

Love Life

In 2014, she announced her engagement with boyfriend Ben Smith-Peterson, and a year later in 2015, Riley Keough tied the knot with him in Nepa, California.

The two met during the filming of the big-budget action film Mad Max: Fury Road. The actress had a supporting role in Mad Max: Fury Road, the fourth instalment of the Mad Max series.
