One Of The Most-Watched New TV Series Premieres Of 2021 Was The Chucky Show

Chucky, a USA Network and SYFY co-production, has become one of the year’s most-watched new TV series premieres.

Chucky features fourteen-year-old Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur), who picks up the twisted Good Guy doll at a yard sale and is created and written by franchise creator Don Mancini. The community is thrown into disarray when a succession of murders happens

The series begins up sometime after the events of Cult of Chucky (2017), and it keeps the whole Child’s Play franchise—which produced six sequels—canon. Chucky will also address the Charles Lee Ray legend, which is popular in Hackensack, according to promotional materials for the concert.

Storyline

Mancini was conspicuously absent from the 2019 Child’s Play reboot, but he’s back for the new series in full force. He wrote all 10 episodes (together with Kim Garland, who contributed to eight of them) and directed the first one. Brad Dourif, who sat out the reboot as well, returns to reprise his role as the deadly doll, which he first played in 1988’s Child’s Play and reprised in the sequels.

Fiona Dourif, Dourif’s daughter, will resume her role as Nica Pierce, alongside franchise veterans Alex Vincent, Christine Elise, and Jennifer Tilly. Alyvia Alyn Lind, Björgvin Arnarson, Teo Briones, Lexa Doig, Devon Sawa, and Barbara Alyn Wood join newcomer Arthur.

Most-watched series

According to The Wrap, Chucky had one of the most-watched series launches among new shows this year. The much-anticipated premiere, which aired on October 12, drew 4.4 million viewers in its first week.

The large turnout could be attributed to a dedicated fan base mixed with a younger generation of fans. The 18-49 demographic accounted for 1.1 million of the millions that tuned in. The premiere was broadcast on USA, SYFY, and each network’s YouTube channel.
