On Sebastian Stan’s birthday, cast of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier shares a hilarious BTS image

Anthony Mackie, star of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, has shared a behind-the-scenes photo in honour of Sebastian Stan’s birthday.

Stan’s (Bucky Barnes/Winter Solider) and Mackie’s (Sam Wilson/Falcon) MCU characters debuted in Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Solider, respectively, but the duo landed their own Disney+ series in March 2021. After the events of Avengers: End Game, the series picks up with the two heroes in a new world-saving journey.

The series’ route to the screen, like many other Disney+ productions, was not easy. The Falcon and the Winter Solider was first announced at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, and was supposed to be released in the fall of 2020, but it was delayed due to production issues.

Filming in Puerto Rico was momentarily halted in January 2020 owing to an earthquake, and work was delayed for many months in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic epidemic. The Falcon and the Winter Solider, on the other hand, was a fan favourite by the time it was finally released, with many viewers complimenting Stan and Mackie’s connection.

Mackie took to Instagram with a humorous post in honour of his co-39th star’s birthday, proving that chemistry existed both on and off the set.

Mackie appeared to be paying homage to the few months on set when the cast of The Falcon and the Winter Solider was confined by COVID-19 social distance restrictions, showing the two actors in full costume standing far apart in front of a food truck. “Remember that time I had to tell you I love you from 2 metres away?” he said in the caption.

While no further episodes of the six-part The Falcon and the Winter Solider series have been confirmed, fans can enjoy photos like these in the meanwhile.

The series’ conclusion left some possibilities for future crossovers between the characters, perhaps in their new identities as Wilson’s Captain America and Bucky’s other alter identity, the White Wolf, but no details have been revealed. Meanwhile, it’s always great to see Marvel stars sharing photos that demonstrate a genuine bond between the MCU’s cast.
