Captain America’s Speech in Falcon and Winter Soldier Came So close to A Trump Slogan

Anthony Mackie has disclosed that a Donald Trump slogan was almost included in his Captain America speech in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was Marvel’s second phase 4 serial to premiere on Disney+ this year.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier are on a global mission to defeat the anti-nationalist gang known as the Flag Smashers, and the series sets up Falcon to take the shield and the title of the next Captain America.

Make America Great Again

Mackie claimed at Marvel’s Drive-In FYC, as reported by ComicBook, that he wished to include a Trump phrase in his Captain America address. He wanted to end his speech by mentioning Trump’s campaign slogan “Make America Great Again,” which he popularised throughout the 2016 election.

Wilson’s Captain America speech stressed the importance of change, which was especially timely given the protests and political instability in the United States in 2020. As a result, Mackie intended to end his address by saying that if we want to make America great again, we must do it ourselves.

Politics

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s politics effectively address current issues in the United States. As more Americans express their displeasure with America’s handling of immigration, refugees, and racial tensions, the series provided an unexpectedly forceful conversation on the government’s duties.

Wilson’s speech was primarily intended to encourage Americans to pay attention to the demands of their people and to simply do better. While the slogan was not included in Mackie’s address, it is clear that he intended to restore the genuine meaning of a term that has lost its strength as a result of its connection with Trump.
