The superhit Marvel series, Loki, had almost included Agent Mobius M. Mobius’ backstory. The character was played by Owen Wilson brilliantly. Marvel Studios used their third series to introduce the Time Variance Authority, which is an organization that guards the Sacred Timeline. And this also introduced a line of new characters including the Minutemen such as Mobius.
The character was in the middle of tracking down Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) when Loki (Tom Hiddleston) was arrested. He was almost pruned when Mobius suggested using him to find where the evil variant was. Loki and Mobius’ relationship was tumultuous initially but they later developed an unlikely bond of strong friendship.
Because of this, Mobius realized that TVA was a lie and like the variants, he too was one and so are the other Minutemen. The show did not include his backstory of where he was before the organization kidnapped him. However, it has been revealed that Marvel Studios had considered exploring his past.
Loki’s director, Kate Herron shared that there were some early drafts where the series was going to show if Mobius had a family before joining the TVA. However, they scrapped that because they could not decide what the backstory will be like. At this point, even the people who are involved in making the show are not sure what Mobius’ past life was like.
“And I think it’s more painful when he is going to be deleted, him saying, ‘What if I had a family'”
She said, “So I think for us, we had spoken about, I think there were a few drafts of the script where you did see like a family or you did see a life, but I think we all kind of decided we don’t know what it is yet. And I think that’s exciting, right? Because it gives more road to travel with him. And I think it’s more painful when he is going to be deleted; him saying, ‘What if I had a family’; Because maybe he did or maybe he didn’t, I don’t know where the writers will take his character.”
But as we know there is a second season of Loki that is on the way, the writers will have plenty of time to explore that aspect. Although, Loki will have to work extra hard to convince Mobius in the finale that he is also a variant. The original TVA does already know that they are all variants but Sylvie accidentally sent Loki to an alternate universe. This is a universe that Kang the Conqueror openly manages.
We all badly want or know already that Mobius wants a jet ski; but whether all his variants adore that is still a mystery. However, there are strong chances of original Mobius and Loki to somehow find their way back.
