Logic signs exclusive seven-figure Twitch deal days after announcing retirement from music

Looks like fans of Logic, the rapper will not be saying goodbye to him after all. Logic has reportedly signed a hefty exclusive partnership deal with popular game streaming site, Twitch. News of the deal comes just days after announcing his upcoming sixth and final album “No Pressure,” along with his subsequent retirement from music.

Logic’s contract marks Twitch’s first official music creator partnership, as the platform invests further in non-gaming content.

Stepping away from music to become a great father

Throughout his rap career, Logic has been hugely successful as both an artist and producer for more than a decade now. The 30-year-old Maryland bred rapper announced his retirement on July 16th. He mentioned that he was stepping away from the music business to be “a great father” to his newborn child.

First official music creator partnership

However, that retirement appears to have been short-lived as Twitch announced on Monday that Logic will be the site’s first official music partner.

The company issued an official press release statement. “Logic will stream weekly on his Twitch channel which will include a mixture of in-studio sessions, special guests, AMA style formats, and gaming.”

“I’m just a nerd. I love video games”

In an interview with The Verge, Logic confirmed that he will be bringing his passion for gaming to the streaming platform. “I’m not this rapper guy, man,” he explained. “I’m just a nerd. I love video games and I’m blessed enough to have millions of fans and followers. So it is a great partnership. I’m going to bring new eyes to their service, they’re going to bring new money to my bank account,” the rapper joked, “I’m just kidding.”

Logic is known to be an active user on the streaming platform for nearly five years already. The rapper has also mentioned in the past that he’s a huge fan of games like Metal Gear Solid, The Last of Us, and Bioshock among other video game franchises. Logic even started a YouTube gaming channel, called BobbysWorld, back in 2016. On which he shares his playthroughs of games varying from Doom to Uncharted 4.

“I’m going to be on Twitch, helping people”

“I think it’s a powerful platform that allows me to connect with my fans in the best way possible,” Logic said of his latest deal with Twitch. “And [it’s] the safest way possible for someone in my position. This is the place where if you want to interact with me, you’re going to do it here,” he said.

“I’m going to be on Twitch, helping people after they’ve had a day of protesting or political debates, unwind and laugh and smile. And if you want to know how I feel about the world, you listen to my music.”

What can we expect from Logic’s first live-stream?

The rapper’s first live-stream on Twitch will see him perform his ‘final’ studio album, No Pressure, on Tuesday, July 21 at 8 p.m. ET. As for news of his retirement, only time will tell how serious the rapper is about not returning to drop music. If it’s any indication the rapper seems to be more than delighted by his new deal with Twitch, which also shows he’s happy to move on to new projects.

However the rapper did make sure to add, “I’m not fooling myself. I’m a musician, I’ll always be one. I’m still gonna, like, rap on songs that probably won’t come out.
