Kevin Feige Addresses Rumours About ‘Secret Wars’ Movie

Marvel boss Kevin Feige has finally chosen to address the ongoing rumours about there being a forthcoming Secret Wars movie.

Both Joe and Anthony Russo have previously expressed their willingness to be creating movies within the MCU. Back in 2018, they specifically said that a Secret Wars film will be a project they would like to work on. They said if they are in fact moving into this world of crossover events, it would provide opportunities for other stories from the books like Secret Wars.

The Russo Brothers shared that there is a big potential moving forward if Fox/Disney deal closes. They added, “[We] feel like the mission of the Marvel Universe is to keep expanding and surprising people. Surprise them with casting choices, surprise them with story choices.”

Since then the speculations about a Secret wars movie have been doing the rounds amongst Marvel fans. But now the Marvel boss himself has decided to respond to these rumours. He acknowledged the rumours and said he is aware of them. However, the boss was curious as to why is everybody talking about that now.

Kevin told ComicBook.com, “I think one person writes about it, and then another person writes about it, and then everybody’s writing about it, and then it’s happening.” The 1984 Secret Wars comic book series was the first superhero team crossover. It showcased the Avengers teaming up with Fantastic Four and X-Men.

Secret Wars is a great, giant crossover,” Feige said. “There are a lot of great, giant crossovers that we could [adapt] – it’s the ongoing embarrassment of riches of Marvel”. He further shared that they have already started filming for their 31st and 32nd MCU features. The boss said this is excluding the seven, eight Disney+ series. He said even then people ask about things that haven’t even been touched yet.

In other Marvel news, Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer has broken the record for most views in its first 24 hours. The trailer itself picked up 355.5 million views in its first 24 hours on Youtube. The record was previously held by Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame with 289 million views in the same period.
