Kangana Ranaut – Rise To Fame
It has been more than fourteen years since the actress Kangana Ranaut has been in this industry. She is the perfect example of someone from has risen from nothing to everything. Coming from a small town of Himachal Pradesh, she has made her own place in the Hindi film industry.
Start
Her journey had started in a small town called Bhambla. While her father was a businessman her mother was a schoolteacher. Belonging to a middle-class family, Kangana was very active in school. From sports to debates and elocutions, she was an active participant. As a child, her dream was to become a doctor.
It was much later when Kangana had revealed that she was an unwanted girl child in her family. She also had to struggle as her family was an outcaste. During her college days, she had appied to the Elite Institute of Modeling in Shimla. The actress had also tried theatre for a few and has been a kathak dancer.
Migrated To Mumbai
It was her luck which brought her to Mumbai when her actual journey became towards becoming a superstar. She was having coffee in a café when the filmmaker Anurag Basu spotted her and gave her first break in B-town. The year 2006 saw Kangana in her first film Gangster alongside Emraan Hashmi.
All of us know that getting a break in the film industry is tough. But what’s even tougher is surviving in this tinsel town. Without a filmy background, a mentor, or a high-class family, the actress was on her own. Even though she had delivered some of the most amazing performances in her initial days – Gangster, Woh Lamhe, Life In A Metro and Fashion, but she did not receive the respect that she deserved.
People mocked her for her accent, for her English, her fashion sense and sometimes even for being the odd one amid several foreign-return B-town kids. But it was Kangana’s sheer dedication and never-give-up attitude which made her survive amid the cut-throat competition.
It was through her power driven roles in films like Tanu Weds Manu, Queen and Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi that she has established herself as a leading lady. On multiple occasions, Kangana has made it clear that she won’t work with superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan or Aamir Khan just for the sake of it. She has always given the priority to scripts and her roles in it.
Controversy
She had even faced a very rough patch in her life after the controversy with Hrithik Roshan. Failed relationships, some wrong movie choices, allegations from people, no friend from the industry, she faced everything alone.
Today she is not just one of the most popular actresses in Bollywood but also one of the most sought after names with 3 national awards in her kitty. Today she is one of the few who has openly taken a stand against nepotism in the industry. And she clearly does not need anybody else backing her, as she is a one-man army!
