Kacey Musgraves and Ruston Kelly Split After 2 Years of Marriage

Kacey Musgraves and her husband, Ruston Kelly have called it quits. The country singer and her singer-songwriter husband have ended their marriage nearly two and half years later. The couple confirmed in a joint statement, “We’ve made this painful decision together.”

“With heavy but hopeful hearts we wanted to put our own thoughts into the air about what’s happening. These kinds of announcements are always met with scrutiny and speculation. We want to stop that before it even starts,” their statement said. “We believe that we were put into each other’s lives for a divine reason. And have both changed each other infinitely for the better. The love we have for each other goes far beyond the relationship we’ve shared as husband and wife. It’s a soul connection that can never be erased.”

The couple although has no hard feelings, and have split amicably. Their statement continued, “We’ve made this painful decision together. A healthy decision that comes after a very long period of trying the best we can. It simply just didn’t work. Though we are parting ways in marriage, we will remain true friends for the rest of our lives. We hold no blame, anger, or contempt for each other. We ask for privacy and positive wishes for us both as we learn how to navigate through this.”

Speculations

Fans first began to grow concerned when they noticed Kacey had attended the CMA Awards with Gigi Hadid as her date in November.

As she took home the award for Female Vocalist of the Year, her hubby was nowhere in sight. Kacey and Ruston sparked red flags when they deleted all photos of each other from social media in the beginning of 2020.

“I started to see the world in a more fond, pretty light”

The Grammy winner and Ruston first met at Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe. They connected during a songwriting session in May 2016. After getting to know each other and collaborating on songs, the pair fell for each other. They got engaged in December 2016, and tied the knot 1 year later in Oct. 2017.

Kacey recalled the time they got to know each other, fondly remembering it as a “big opening of heart.” “Everything was right. I didn’t have to shift any part of my personality to make it fit together. Which isn’t really something I’ve had before.”

Kacey confessed that she couldn’t have created her Grammy-winning record, Golden Hour without being inspired by Ruston. “I started to see the world in a more fond, pretty light,” she said. “After meeting this person who really allows me to just be myself. Not have to walk on eggshells for any reason. Songs started pouring out.”

“If I wouldn’t have blocked off time to get off the road and try to create a new album. Have the time to explore creatively, it makes me wonder if I would have met him. It was perfect timing.”
