BTS gave a special performance and a speech at the 76th United Nations in New York on Monday. The Late Late Show’s James Corden cracked few jokes at the band’s appearance, which did not go down too well with BTS Army. After mentioning their appearance as unusual at ‘The Late Late Show’, the team later deletes the host video to avoid backlash on Twitter.
It seems that The Late Late Show’s James Corden has landed himself at the wrong end of a Twitter dispute. The TV show host had a few choicest words to say about K-pop band BTS’ recent visit to the UN and it seems that the BTS Army has not taken too kindly to it.
For the unversed, BTS was recently named the UN’s Special Presidential Envoys for Future Generations and Culture. As part of the new role, they gave a special performance and a speech at the United Nations in New York on Monday. Six million people watched the YouTube video of the speech and song in just five hours and James Corden, who has been a friend of BTS for the longest time made a series of jokes about the septet’s trip to the UN.
On The Late Late Show, Corden very gently mocked the UN for inviting BTS to the UN headquarters in New York calling the trip ‘unusual’, but what made it worse was referring to the BTS fanbase as ’15-year-old girls’. It was enough to irk the BTS Army from around the world, and James Corden started trending on Twitter for all the wrong reasons.
One fan wrote, “I’m so sick of this fake love I’m so sorry but it’s fake love james corden isn’t Papa Mochi anymore,” while another posted, “James Corden is now in army’s black book. he used army’s and BTS for clout idc”. Here’s how people reacted:
