High Kick, a popular Korean sitcom on MBC, is set to return in the second half of 2021

MBC, a broadcasting corporation, announced that the popular sitcom “High Kick” will be returning to television.

An MBC official announced that “The production crew of MBC’s Docuflex is preparing to make a documentary about the sitcom. However, the names of the actors who will appear in it have yet to be confirmed. The format has also not been finalised.”

In 2006, Korean television was dominated by “High Kick.” It’s a sitcom that depicts the daily lives of three generations of a family in a lighthearted manner. From 2006 to 2007, it ran for almost a year, producing a “High Kick” phenomenon and acquiring a lot of popularity among Korean internet users.

Due to popular demand, “High Kick” was allowed to return in 2009 with “High Kick Through the Roof,” and “High Kick: Revenge of the Short Legged” was released in 2011.

High Kick!” is one of MBC’s most popular sitcoms of all time, with a 20.4 percent audience rating. Its success was due to the show’s unique plots, as well as the actors’ realistic portrayals of their characters and the chemistry they generated on set.

The 167-episode series follows the Lee family, with veteran actor Lee Soon-Jae as the father and Na Moon-hee portraying his wife. It starred a number of well-known actors, including Jeong Jun-ha, Park Hae-mi, Jung Il-woo, and Park Min-young.

The original cast is scheduled to reunite, including veteran performers Lee Soon Jae and Na Moon Hee, actress Park Hae Mi, Jeong Jun Ha, Kim Hye Seong, Jung Il Woo, Choi Min Yong, Shin Ji, Seo Min Jung, Kim Bum, Park Min Young, and 2PM’s Chansung.

“High Kick Through the Roof” earned the Best Variety Show Award at the 46th Baeksang Arts Awards during its second season.

Since the popular sitcom lasted three seasons, it featured some of your favourite K-drama stars and actresses in each season. Some of them are now household names in Korea’s entertainment industry.

Hwang Jung Eum from “She Was Pretty,” Shin Se Kyung from “Run On,” and Yoon Si Yoon from “Hit the Top” were all cast members in season 2.

Season 3 featured a star-studded cast, including Ahn Nae Sang of “The Devil Judge,” Yoon Kye Sang, Park Ha Sun, and Julian Kang. Of course, two of today’s hottest stars, Krystal Jung, who is presently starring in KBS’ “Police University,” and Lee Jong Suk, who starred in “While You Were Sleeping,” were also in the main cast of “High Kick 3.”

Since the Hallyu wave swept Asia, international K-drama fans have developed an interest in previous Korean entertainment, including series, films, and sitcoms. This served as a springboard for the revival and remake of additional programs.

Docuflex” has previously shown episodes concerning the MBC popular rom-com “Coffee Prince” (2007) and the sitcom “Nonstop” (2000), among other things. “Docuflex” has received multiple positive reviews for invoking nostalgia by replaying popular episodes from the past.

The next episode of “High Kick!” is set to premiere later this year.
