Is this a romantic comedy with a twist? Yes, ‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha,’ a new drama starring Kim Seon Ho and Shin Min Ah, is the sunshine serial we need on our K-drama list! The drama skillfully checks all the boxes: a feel-good rom-com drama set in a gorgeous locale with our favourite dimpled lead actors, some squabbling romance, and breezy air. Isn’t it all we need for a weekend binge-watching session?
So far, ‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha‘ has spoiled us with sunny teasers and posters of the lead characters, as well as the picturesque coastal village of Gongjin, and we can’t help but want to immerse ourselves in their lovely world. In the most recent trailer, we see ‘Shik-Hye,’ aka Hong Doo Shik, and Yoo Hye Jin’s budding relationship amongst their daily fighting.
But then there’s Ji Sung Hyun, who throws a curveball into the burgeoning romance. Ji Sung Hyun, played by Lee Sang Yi, is a well-known variety show PD (production director) who is known for generating friendly content that depicts people’s everyday lives.
Viewers are looking forward to seeing Kim Seon Ho and Shin Min Ah‘s on-screen chemistry, as this is the actors’ first time working together. Yoon Hye Jin will be played by Shin Min Ah, who has both ideal looks and perfect qualifications to match! Yoon Hye Jin is a self-made woman who financed her education through scholarships and part-time work.
Money and success have grown essential to her, yet she has been forced to seek isolation in the beach village of Gongjin by a series of events. She appears bright and confident in her doctor’s coat and as fresh as a daisy in her usual, everyday wear in the freshly released stills.
Hong Doo Shik is envious of Ji Sung Hyun’s gentle and innocent candour towards Yoon Hye Jin, as he prevents Hye Jin from giving Sung Hyun a dumpling! In ‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha,’ will ‘Shik-Hye’ have a smooth sailing romance? On August 28 at 9 p.m. KST, watch ‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’ (5:30 pm IST).
