Gigi Hadid Claps Black at Claim She’s “Disguising” Her Baby Bump

Gigi Hadid slammed a reputed publication for claiming that the supermodel has been disguising her baby bump. In a recent Instagram live session, Gigi mentioned that her unintentional choice of baggy clothes manages to hide her baby bump. However, when the publication carried the news saying Gigi Hadid has been disguising her pregnancy, the mom-to-be hit back at the publication.

Last month, Gigi Hadid joined activist Sophia Roe to speak about an array of topics. Shortly after the video discussion, a fan asked the mother-to-be how she kept her bump under wraps. Gigi revealed that a baggy jumpsuit helped her hide her baby bump during the first few months. The model also stated looking at her from the side will prove just how much her baby bump has grown. “This angle and the really baggy jumpsuit make for an optical illusion. From the side it’s a different story!” she explained in a comment.

Following this, British Vogue tweeted a story with the headline “Gigi Hadid Reveals How She Disguises Her Pregnancy.” ‘@GiGiHadid is yet to post a picture showing her baby bump,’ the magazine tweeted. ‘But her genius disguise gives an insight into her lockdown pregnancy.’

“I wasn’t trying to hide anything”

Hadid was quick to respond on Twitter clarifying that she was not disguising her baby bump and that her statement has been misinterpreted. “Disguise…?” the model wrote, adding that the optical illusion of her clothing was not intentional. She wasn’t trying to hide anything. “I said, in a baggy jumpsuit the front and side views are visually different stories. Not that that was intentional or I was trying to hide anything. Will be proud and happy to share ‘insight’ when I feel like it, thanks.” She continued, “For now I am proudly experiencing and sharing this time with my family and loved ones.”

Announcing her Pregnancy

In an interview with Jimmy Fallon late in April, Hadid confirmed that she and Zayn Malik are expecting their first child together. She wasn’t too happy about the circumstances she had to reveal it in. Nevertheless, she told the late-night host that the couple were looking forward to the new addition.

“Thank you so much!” she said. “Obviously, you know, we wish we could’ve announced it on our own terms. But we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support. I’m trying [to be present for every part of it],” she continued. “Especially during this time, it’s a nice silver lining to be able to be home and together and really experience it.”

A source close to the couple revealed, “Gigi and Zayn are expecting their first child together and the couple is very excited! Gigi has kept the secret close to her family and friends for a while as she’s only a few months along. Once Gigi and Zayn got back together at the end of last year it was like they never skipped a beat and knew what they had was special. The couple and their families are overjoyed.”

Hadid first became aware of her pregnancy around late February, while jetting around the world for various Fashion Weeks. In January, Gigi publicly rekindled her on-and-off again romance with boyfriend and former One Direction member Zayn Malik. The pair first began dating in 2015 and separated for the 1st time in March of 2018. Though they reunited later that year, they would split once more in January of 2019, followed by their rekindling in 2020.
