Everything You Need To Know About Netflix’s Locke And Key Season 2

Locke & Key season 2 is looking to release on Netflix later in 2021. Here is a updated guide to everything we know about the future of Locke & Key including the news for both seasons 2 & 3 and what to expect from the story going forward.

A fantasy horror series based on a comedy series from Joe Hill sees three siblings enter a house with lots of magic and secrets hidden inside it.

Season 1 had 10 episodes, all of which aired on Netflix worldwide on February 7th, 2020.

It took a long time to get the TV series for Locke & Key according to the showrunners who commented on the fact the series was first intended for Fox and then Hulu who they shot pilots for

The review of the new Netflix series has been good with many complaints saying it sounds normal and too similar but at the same time it has been recommended by some stores with some saying there is a chance to be the next Goosebumps.

Locke And Key Season 2 Renewal Update

Status of official renewal: It has been Official renewal from March 30th, 2020

On March 30, 2020 it was confirmed that Locke & Key will return for the second season. The renewal has promised many keys and demons and, most importantly, a lot more Aloha!

According to sources that provide production schedules, the series was in active development for the second season just after the release of the first season.

Once again the recording will take place in Toronto, Canada.

Both presenters, Meredith Averill and Carlton Cuse discussed the plans for the second season in talks during the Locke & Key press tour. That includes an interview with Gamespot where the creators said: “We’re writing Season 2, even though it’s not greenlit. We work in a room, ”

Release Date

Official Production Status: Post Production (Last Updated: 09/22/2020)

The second season was originally expected to start recording on August 17, 2020 and end on February 5, 2021. Indeed, COVID continues to disrupt recording schedules as the same happened to Locke & Key.

Another update in September 2020 was received that the series was delayed for a month and will now start production on September 21, 2020 and through on March 5th, 2021. That eventually was confirmed to be happening slightly earlier on September 19th.

Filming has since wrapped (expected to have finished filming in December 2021) but according to a production listing from Canadian Directors Guild (not officially connected to Netflix and slightly wrong when it comes to some production dates), the show will be undergoing post-production for much of the rest of 2021 with September 3rd listed as the end date for “sound post”.
